I love the original story and read it many times as a child and the original film was great, but it was becoming a little dated so when I heard there was going to be a remake I was so excited, this should be great especially with the great Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka and I was not disappointed.
The story is about five children that are given the chance to visit Willy Wonka's chocolatefactory, the only catch is that they have to buy chocolate bars in order to find a golden ticket and win the trip of a lifetime. A lot of children that were trying to find the golden tickets were spoilt rich children, their parent paid people to open the bars for them, or brought bars of chocolate in bulk to try and find one of the winning tickets.

Advantages: Good film, good acting, interesting adaptation Disadvantages: Quite different to the original and very over the top
factors I made a conscious decision not to make an effort to watch the film either at the cinema or on DVD when it came out. However the film that I had managed to avoid so far was finally shown on good old fashioned terrestrial television last night and I actually found myself settling down to watch it.
I am pleased that I have now seen this film and I did actually enjoy watching it. The first thing that quickly becomes apparent however is that this is very different from the 1971 film that starred Gene Wilder in the role of Willy Wonka, this time around a lot of artistic licence has been used to turn this into a modern film to appeal to the kids and the adults of today.
The story begins with a flashback 20 years before and a story told by Charlie's grandfather, Grandpa Joe who tells him that he once worked at that big chocolatefactory ...
I have just been watching the children's classic Willy Wonka and the ChocolateFactory with my two daughters and we have all really enjoyed it. I had seen it years ago but had forgotten just waht a good film it is, and watching it as an adult has been just enjoyable.
The film was made in 1971 and is based on the wonderful book by Roald Dahl. It tells the story of Charlie Buckett, a small boy who lives in almost penniless conditions in a rundown cottage with his mother and his four bedridden grandparents. He is a very uncomplaining boy and all of his family wish they could provide more for him.
One day, everybody all over the world becomes very excited when Willy Wonka, who runs a big chocolatefactory announces that he has placed five golden tickets in chocolate bars. The recipients of these tickets will win all the chocolate that can ...
