** BRIEF PLOT **
When Daniel LaRusso, (played by Ralph Macchio) and his mother Lucille, (played by Randee Heller) move into a new apartment in a small neighbourhood things seem to be going well, until Daniel starts at the local school.
When Daniel becomes friends with Ali Mills, (played by Elisabeth Shue) he soon realises that her ex-boyfriend, Johnny Lawrence, (played by William Zabka) and his little gang of Karate members are going to be trouble ...
Advantages: Mr Miyagi, Daniel Disadvantages: Same as first movie
Some sequels probably should never be made and unfortunately Karate Kid 2 is probably one of those films. Karate Kid 1 is one of my favourite 80?s movies, classic scenes (wax on, wax off ? the end fight scene) but in my opinion the magic cannot be captured again and consequently the film falls flat because of that and becomes something that we?ve seen once and don?t really need to see again in a remake. However, according to an article I read, like the original film, the sequel was also a success and earned even more at the box-office than its predecessor and considered by many fans to be the best in the series. Karate Kid II was released in 1986. The second film contains the same main characters as the first movie and follows on directly after the fight scene in the original movie. Ralph Macchio returns ...
Advantages: great story line - MR miyagi has to be the favourite character Disadvantages: none really
I was born in 1980 and probably because of this I have a strong attachment to a lot of movies made in the eighties ! There are just sooooooo many .
Being someone who is always watching the pennies and also being a huge movie fan- with the likes of places like play.com , Amazon, and other online stores ,you don't have to be the richest person these days to build up a big DVD collection in a relatively short space of time.
This week I bought a brand new cellophane wrapped'THE KARATE KID' DVD from one of play.com's playtraders, and as with most if not all items listed on play.com inc. playtraders, post and packing was and is usually free. I paid £2.50 for this DVD.
This dvd was purchased in order for me to take a trip down memory lane really...seeing as I have elder brothers I had already seen this film while growing up ...
