Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai = "Say this is love"
Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, a bollywood superhit starring Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel, made these new actors into bollywood stars overnight. Not only was this the beginning of a film career for Hrithik, but it also launched the career of singer Lucky Ali.
This action yet romantic film is about two love birds, Rohit (played by Hrithik Roshan) and Sonia (played by Amisha Patel). Rohit is an aspiring singer, who works for Mr.Malik, and lives with his aunt, uncle and younger brother Amit. One day Rohit meets the beautiful, rich girl Sonia, and later that day Rohit sings a song for her (Chand Sitare) on her birthday, on the beach. Sonia, impressed by his singing, invites him to perform on a cruise ship. Sonia finds herself getting jealous over Rohit's popularity with the girls, and therefore goes to sulk on a lifeboat....whilst getting drunk! Rohit follows, and when they awake in the morning, they find themselves in the middle of the ocean; they approach an island and get closer. Rohit and Sonia both declare their love for each other...but just as things are getting better, Sonia's dad, Mr. Saxena. (played by Anupam Kher) arrives in a jet boat to rescue them; he is bitterly opposed to their relationship.
Sonia's dad asks Rohit's boss, Malik (played by Dalip Tahil) to fire him. However, he later softens up and challenges Rohit to do something big so that he can win back his love. Determined to prove himself, Rohit and his friends attempt to produce a record deal for him. Rohit eventually becomes famous, and prepares to put on a huge concert.
So what will happen now?? Will the two lovers meet? Will Sonia's dad agree to their relationship?? Watch the rest of the movie to find out!! =)
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, and consequently have seen it numerous times. The film has made me jump, laugh and cry. The songs are just as amazing as the film - if you can understand them, since they are in hindi. Songs included in this movie are:
