Kabhi Kabhie is a film which was released in 1976. Apart from winning numerous amount of awards the film is known for the melodious track 'Kabhi Kabhie Mere Dil Mein'. This is truly a classic film, spinning the tale of two lovers and how they cherish their love over the space of two generations.
The superstars of bollywood (Rakhee, Rishi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan) show their true acting skills in this uplifting romantic tale.
As you watch the film, you seem to forget how long it is - almost three hours long - the cinematography does justice to the length of the film.
Now, enough about the film itself...let's get techical.
My father was adament to buy the DVD thinking the sound and overall picture quality would not be the same as it was 'back in the days!' How wrong he was! When you watch the film on DVD for the first time, you seem to forget that the film is almost 30 years old. The sound and quality of the film is still there, infact, it is an improvement of how it use to be in 1976!
One plus point has to be the english subtitles, so if you struggle with your hindi, then this is the way forward. However, one thing I have to say is that the subtitles do not do justice to the translated language. The emotions and feeling are missing from the subtitles and make the film seem corny.
In regards to the special features included, the exclusive interview which Karan Johar (upcoming Director, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum) takes of Yash Johar is purely splendid.
However, let me point out that this is mainly the only special feature you will get with the film, which is a bit of a let down.
Overall a great film and a must have for all bollywood buffs!
