this romantic comedy, not the least of which being that either of its good-looking leads would ever lead lonely existences. Reese Witherspoon plays ambitious medical intern Elizabeth, who regularly clocks in 20 hour days at the hospital. Her work is her life, much to the chagrin of her sister Abby, who is married, with kids, and constantly attempting to get Elizabeth to go out more. When Abby finally succeeds in setting up a blind date for her sister, Elizabeth has an accident en route while driving to meet the mystery man, and the stage is set for love. David (Mark Ruffalo) has been apathetically searching for a new apartment in the cutthroat San Francisco housing market, while attempting to overcome his wifes death two years ago. When he finally finds the perfect place, nothing is going to make him leave, and this includes the blonde control freak (Elizabeth) who suddenly shows up while hes busy vegetating. She claims the apartment is hers, and it becomes ever clearer that Elizabeth doesnt remember her past, and shows irrefutable signs of being a ghost. David signs on to help her solve her own mystery, and the two grow closer even as it becomes ever clearer that theyll never be able to be together. The chemistry between Witherspoon and Ruffalo breathes life into the well-trod terrain of the ghost love story, while NAPOLEON DYNAMITES Jon Heder almost steals the show as a bookstore worker with the Gift. The slapstick humour resulting from Davids conversations with his invisible companion is hilarious in one standout scene, David saves a mans life as Elizabeth talks him through the task. The ultimate message about the power of love and wisely-used time gives added resonance to the tale.

I think both of these actors are really good, they both capture the emotion of their roles and really help to bring the story alive.
The plot The movie first starts with a screen of clouds, with calming music - Katie Maluas cover of just like heaven. The clouds part and Elizabeth is sitting in a beautiful, misty gardens taking in the atmosphere, then she is shook to wake up in the hospital she works at and has been on shift for 23 hours. She goes around diagnosing and helping her patients until the chief of medicine sends her home. She is happy, but tired on the way to her sisters house, where she has been set up for a blind date, but never makes it. Again, there are clouds, then it moves on to show a man looking for an apartment, he goes through a string of places, but never seems happy, then eventually settles to rent Elizabeths apartment. Soon, he finds one downside to the apartment - it comes with a ghost. He then spends the rest of the movie helping Elizabeth find out who she is and ends up falling for her, but he has to find a way to make her wake up from a coma.
I felt the movie itself was great, plenty of funny twists, the acting was great, the script was very well written and this is exactly the type of movie i love to watch - addicted to Rom Coms! The soundtrack to the movie goes very well, it has the right slow quiet songs in all the right places, creating the perfect mood for all the situations.
The characters Elizabeth - Played by Reese Witherspoon - A doctor who has an accident. David - Played by Mark Ruffalo - The lazy, jobless man, who rents Elizabeths apartment. Jack - Played by Donal Logue - Davids friend, fun, smart with no morals. Abby - Played by Dina Waters - Elizabeths protective sister. Darryl - Played by Jon Heder - Laid back Shop keeper/ medium. I think the way each actor performs creates great relationships between the characters, which really completes the movie. You've got the quiet man who always keeps to himself, the confident woman who never had time for life, a man with no morals whatsoever and many other characters that work so well together.
The dvds special features Filmmaker commentary - This plays the whole movie with commentary by Mark Waters, the director, Bruce Green, the editor, and Daryn Okada, the director of photography - i thought this was interesting to watch, but i don't usually like to watch these, as i just like to watch the movie itself - but see for yourself, as i think it's worth watching. The making of just like heaven - Talks about the novel from which the movie is based, the plans for how and where the movie should be filmed and the relationship between the actors - I loved watching this, the way everyone talks about the movie makes it seem even more fun and interesting, would recommend watching this. Meet the cast - Shows clips of the actor being talking about and then shows differnet members of the crew and cast talk about the member - Shows the relationships the movie helped develop between everyone involved with the movie - I liked listening to the crew talking about each other, as it helps to get to know the actors better. Gag reel - This shows the actors being funny on and off the camera - Hilarios to watch, liked this one very much. Deleted scenes - Shows everything that has been deleted from the film, including an alternative ending - I always like to watch the deleted scenes, they add that little bit extra to the movie, the alternative ending is very short, it just makes Elizabeth remember all the bad things instead of the good, when David returns the key - Good, but could have been better. Previews - Shows previews of other movies coming soon... no relevance to the movie.
My favourite quote I have no favourite quote as such, but i really like the part where Jack is playing Rock, paper scissors, so that David can prove that Elizabeth really exists.

The only one which I have watched from these is the gag reel as I have no interest in the others. It was quite funny but nothing to laugh out loud at.

...a film than after watching Just Like Heaven; I love the dead person with unfinished business sub-genre, think Reese Witherspoon is charming, love romantic comedies and thought the advertising was great. Alas what I was expecting to be a contemporary romance classic turned out to be a sour, stilted, tired farce like comedy with nothing new to add to the rom-com world and only the occasional laugh. What could have been quietly moving, funny look at ... ...I don't feel that Just Like Heaven made the most of its supernatural aspects - there was so much room to explore, so many emotions to unroot, so many myths to play on that it seems shocking the script writers choose to do little or nothing with the ghost side of the story. I was expecting something new and fresh but felt that this whole film was recycled and had been done before - and done with more grace and style. The moment the film touches on ...

...some secret Hollywood supercomputer for just this task. He’s wetter than the hurricane season in New Orleans. Teeny weeny Reece Witherspoon can do nothing else but rom-com. I’ve nothing against these movies and understand that formulaic sells; it’s not as if I wasn’t warned by the title and dust-cover. And in fairness this will appeal to a lot of dooyoo girls over the holidays, their hubbies not picking up on the point of the misses renting it. But apparently he’s not alone in the breezy pad, manifestations of Elizabeth appearing ...

...would usually have, but somehow Just Like Heaven manages to surpass a lot of other romcoms. Ruffalo is surprisingly good at the romantic lead, despite him admitting in the past it's his least favourite role to play. He too is really good at physical comedy - a particular bar scene is definitely one to watch. You have to remember too that as Elizabeth is a spirit in the majority of the film, a lot of scenes that were filmed involved Ruffalo talking ... ...in a restaurant scene this flicks from her being there, to her not being there, and Ruffalo acts this out so well you'd never believe Witherspoon actually wasn't there for half of it. Witherspoon herself has made romcoms a major part of her career now, and why wouldn't she when she does them this well? She nails this character down well, and the change from the cranky, overworked and undersexed Elizabeth to the in love, appreciative of life Elizabeth ...

and for this film the gags come thick and fast. Not sure what it is about people making mistakes and bursting into laughter that just makes you want to laugh along with them so a fantastic feature.
The commentary is a film-maker one so features Wes Craven himself with a producer and editor. I have watched about an hour of it and it is really good as Craven gives you a lot of insight into exactly why he did the film and exactly why he chose the actors he chose. Really interesting viewing.
There are also previews on the DVD which gives you a trailer for future films that are coming out. This trailer is for JustlikeHeaven with Reese Witherspoon which looks great.
