It kept me gripped the whole way through, with my brain in over drive trying to think what was happening next. The storyline is simple and easy to follow, with not so much going on that you can get lost and really need to concentrate. With several twists and turns, that you change your mind from one moment to another,
Sean Connery and Lawrence Fishbourne were excellent throughout and a fantastic plotline, well acted by all.
Some scenes are potentially distressing, but realistic and highly involving. The length of the film was also just right and I wasn't left feeling that anything had been added to pad the film out, as is sometimes the case.
If you haven't seen this film, I would really recommend giving it a try!

A low budget independant movie that does what many multimillion pound blockbusters don't! This movie drags you into it's brilliant and complex storyline paradox and does not let you go untill the very end. It is about a pair of inventors waiting for the invention that will give them their big break when they stumble upon something that neither of them should really be messing with. This storyline is not well explained for any people out there that need that however there is enough within the film for the story and therefore ending to be worked out from once the movie is over. This film definitly goes into my top 10 and I am so glad I stumbled over it in my local DVD "World Cinema" section and it is well worth the watch! Justcause you have never heard of it doesn't mean it isn't a brilliant movie that deserves the title 'Cinema ...

Advantages: Interesting interviews with members of the International Brigades, excellent overview of the war. Disadvantages: Doesn't go into too much depth for those looking to study the subject further.
I am an A level student and for my History A level I had to write a personal investigation on any area of history. I chose the Spanish Civil War mainly because I knew very little about it. I of course went and bought lots of books on the subject but also decided to buy this DVD, just to give me an overview of the war.
It gives an excellent overview of the causes of the war, why the Nationalists won so convicingly, the way in which Franco built up a 'cult of personality' and also goes over the military side very well.
Basically, if you (like I did) want to find out more about this forgotten war then I would certainly recommend this DVD as a good starting point. ...
