first trampled all over the global box office, and its sequels may have failed to fully match the standards set by the original. Yet the Jurassic Park Trilogy: Ultimate Edition still brings together a wildly entertaining trio of films, in a very welcome DVD collection. The basics by now are well known. Eccentric billionaire John Hammond employs scientists to bring dinosaurs back to life, with fairly impressive results. Not everything goes to plan, though, and when his dinosaur-ravaged theme park eventually goes amok in the original Jurassic Park, it's a proper blockbuster rollercoaster ride, whose influence is still being felt in big budget Hollywood movies today. The Lost World moves the action to Site B, a mysterious location where much of the behind-the-scenes work was done for the creation of the original theme park. That makes it extra dangerous, and again, is a fine excuse for some excellent set pieces. It's arguably the weakest of the three films, and it's certainly the flabbiest, but it still entertains, and entertains well. Spielberg handed the director's chair over to Jumanji helmer Joe Johnston for the third film, and it proved a wise decision. Johnston keeps his running time brief, cutting out much of the back-story to focus on the lizard-based action. And save for a fairly sudden finale, he delivers the trademark Jurassic Park tension and rampaging action in spades. In short, the Jurassic Park Trilogy: Ultimate Edition is a fitting testament to a trio of blockbuster movies, that are at worst entertaining, and at best, rip-roaring, high concept, big-budget movie making of real quality. Recommended.--Simon Brew

DVD Description
Featuring the Jurassic Park trilogy comprising of JURASSIC PARK, THE LOST WORLD - JURASSIC PARK and JURASSIC PARK III. In JURASSIC PARK, millionaire John Hammond asks two dinosaur experts to act as consultants on his entrepreneurial endeavour - an amusement park with DNA-cloned live dinosaurs as the main attraction. The palaeontologists, along with a mathematician and Hammond's two grandchildren, take a run-through tour of the park. The joyride soon turns to terror when an impending hurricane, an unscrupulous engineer and the rebelling dinosaurs begin to destroy the park. In THE LOST WORLD - JURASSIC PARK, Dr. Ian Malcolm returns for more dino-horror, when he mounts another expedition to document the natural behaviour of the beasts. Venturing to the island where the dinosaurs were originally bred, the team faces adversity in the form of a less-than-scrupulous company executive and of course, the terrible lizards themselves. In JURASSIC PARK III, Dr Alan Grant is persuaded to take a flight over Isla Sorma by a wealthy businessman on a sightseeing mission, or so he thought. When the plane crashes into the island Paul Kirby reveals that he needs Grant's help to locate and rescue his fourteen year old son from the island. Can the party find the boy and escape before the genetically bred dinosaurs find them?

Advantages: entertaining Disadvantages: Not complete trilogy
...This jurassicpark boxset includes the first jurassicpark so that you can view the best of the trilogy. however in this boxset their is only the first two dvd's and would mean you need to go and purchase the new dvd aswell. so i would not recommend this boxset unless you want it as a collecters piece.i would recommnd buying the full trilogy so that you can watch all the films. however if you own the final film in the trilogy then this is a very good buy as it will compete your collection of this trilogy also it creates a great present for anyone as jurassicpark can be enjoyed by anyone. these are the best two in the trilogy and are far more entertaining...
