Jurassic Park 3 has got to be the real sequel to Jurassic Park 1. With an excellent cast starring Sam Neill as the one and only Dr Alan Grant and a small (but important) part for Laura Dern (Ellie, Dr Grant's partner in Jurassic Park 1), it is a far more convincing sequel than Jurassic Park 2 ever was. I liked Jurassic Park 2 but without Dr Alan Grant it just didn't feel the same. Jurassic Park 2's leading actor was Jeff Goldblum (Dr Malcolm from Jurassic Park 1). He is an excellent actor and I do like him but as far as Jurassic Park 1 goes, he may have survived but he was really not a major player. Jurassic Park is another story.
Jurassic Park 3 has a bit of everything, action, humour, love (yes love) and not forgetting the dinosaurs. As far as I'm concerned they are real and I will not be taking a holiday in that neck of the woods for love nor money!
In Jurassic Park 3, Ellie is now married, sadly not to Dr Grant, with two children and she does not venture to the island but makes a brief appearance at the beginning and, vitally, at the end. Dr Grant, after vowing never to return to Jurassic Park, is tricked into giving a guided tour by airplane over Isla Sorna, a sister island to the one where the original Jurassic Park was situated. Isla Sorna is a restricted area and no aircraft is allowed to fly over it. It is not surprising therefore to discover that it is inhabited by, you guessed it, dinosaurs.
Mr and Mrs Kirby (played by Tea Leoni and William H Macy) dupe Dr Grant into believing they are celebrating a wedding anniversary and want to fly over the island as a special anniversary present. In reality, they are divorced and want to search for their son Eric, aged 14, (Trevor Morgan) who disappeared while paragliding off the coast of Isla Sorna. They insist that the plane will not land but fly very low. Of course, they have every intention of landing and hire two mercenaries to help them. I don't think it's giving too much away to say that the mercenaries never get to cash their cheques.
From the moment the plane lands, there is non-stop dinosaur action featuring dinosaurs not previously seen. There are some funny scenes and one of my favourites it a scene where they come across a T-Rex, Dr Grant says "Do not move a muscle" at which point everyone runs off. I saw this clip on TV and decided there and then that I had to see this film.
I read a few opinions on Jurassic Park 3 before I went to see it. There are so many conflicting opinions. I really enjoyed Jurassic Park 1 and 2 so I knew I was going to like this one. One criticism I have read is that it is samey and predictable. Well, of course it is. Dinosaurs always eat people. To me it is obvious the film is going to be like that and if you don't like it, you shouldn't go and see it. The reason I went to see it was to escape from the new football programme on primetime TV (sorry but I find it boring). I know I'm not a fan of football so I don't watch it (if I don't have to). The acting was excellent, the soundtrack brilliant as expected and the scenery was breathtaking.
I took my two boys, aged 8 and 6, and they both really loved it. We already have Jurassic Park 1 and 2 on video and today they've put them both on one after the other. I will definitely be buying Jurassic Park 3 when it comes out on video.
Jurassic Park 3 has a PG certificate and runs for 92 minutes. It did seem to be over very quickly. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend seeing this film particularly if you like dinosaur films and that includes Journey to the Centre of the Earth. We went to see the film at the Odeon and it cost £4 for me and £3 each for the kids. Money well spent!

I preferred Jurassic Park Two to the first one and was a bit sceptical about seeing the third because Jeff Goldblum was not in it. I did feel that the film was missing something without him but by the same score I still thoroughly enjoyed it and was glad that I went. Excellent op.

I didn't like the film - but I LOVE the books! They're superbly written, try them if you liked the film.
Good op cheers :)
