Advantages: Just like the original with new characters Disadvantages: Aimless sequel
chunk of temple lands on Shere Khan. Falling from a great height, the audience is already writing the obits for poor old SK when it turns out that the missile from the sky happens to be hollow so allowing SK to start practising his lines for JB3.
On the plus side, Disney on celluloid is as good as ever with immaculate animation serving to enhance the studio?s reputation for quality imagery. The main voice overs manage to re-create the original to a point, with the overworked John Goodman leading the way as Balu along with Haley Joel Osment dragged away from his studies for a few days to reprise a respectable Mowgli.
I honestly couldn?t recommend this movie. It?s too short, dull and ultimately pointless but then it is a sequel. I?d read the Kipling book instead if I was you.
Thanks for reading

JungleBook 2 is playing ...
The tiger, the panther, the snake and the orang-utan may be the best animatedanimals the screen has seen - and the bear isn't bad, either. In a way it's the last great fling of Disney's old veteran animators. (Most of them were still some distance from retirement, but never again did they fire so magnificently, all at once.) Anyone who appreciates fine character animation HAS to see this. Despite the rough outlines favoured by Wolfgang Reitherman (he presided over some extreme cheese-paring after Walt Disney's death), there's also a sumptuous feel to this film, at least while they stay in the jungle.
The lack of a story is a problem. "Flabby" is the word that comes to mind. It's really just the story of Baloo and Mowgli bumming around in the jungle. Now and then something happens. At one point Mowgli is pinched by some monkeys ...
Advantages: Brilliant Entertainment for the whole family Disadvantages: None really (as long as you like american cartoons)
This DVD is full of fun laughs and exitment for the whole family. The plot is perfect for any child age 4 upwards and will grip them from start to finish. But if you are just an adult looking for inspiration for your next jazz solo, this is about the best you will ever find. The plot will even grip the most stuborn of adults and will get anyone into even the most intricate parts of the story. Because this is an old film, there are no real special effects (and its a cartoon) but the amazing jazz style song got me singing all the way! The characters are of the perfect choice for the setting and the voices of the characters are even better! This has to be the best out of all the disney films and has some of the best songs of all time! ...

"...Disney-style animation at its most urbane....A droll wit guaranteed to keep parents as well entertained as their children..." (New York Times, p.C13, 13/07/1990)
DVD Description
The 19th animated feature produced by Disney studios and the last film supervised by Walt Disney himself. This endearing feature is based on Rudyard Kipling's children's story about a boy named Mowgli raised by wolves in the wilderness of India. During his delightful and scary adventures with a series of wild creatures, Mowgli learns he must leave the jungle and be what nature intended him to be -- a man. Delightful jazz-inspired songs make this a Disney classic.
