I like 3D movies, obviously like all of you out there. It's very rare to see such kind of movies. Also i read this novel and the novel was just superb which eventually made me to watch this movie. But I only watched this movie here in my place without the 3D effect. :-( in theatres. I was sad as i wanted to see this movie in 3D in theatre.
But later i owned the movie in Blu-Ray format and was a 3D version too. When i saw for first time i saw this movie in theatres, it was really a good movie to enjoy. Though it had some major flaws and raises doubts in the minds of the audience this movie was very much enjoyable and was a good time-passer too.
Even without the 3D effects this movie was good as one can visualize the effects very well. You can get what i'm trying to say. Even when watching this movie without the 3D, one can really experience the "virtual 3D effect" (Sorry i can't find an opt word than this) like when ever the ball bounces it seems like as if it comes very closer to the eyes.
Also this movie opens up with a very good scene which looked just great even when watching it in normal cinemas itself. This makes the audience to move to the edge of their seats. But as the movie progresses one can predict the next scene in many parts of the movie. Also then onwards this movie moves much like "Indiana Jones" movie.
Now for the Blu-Ray part. To start with the movie is 1080p for both the 3D version and non 3D version of the movie. I owned this movie in Blu-Ray in 3D version, watched it in my PC using the 3D goggles that i own for playing games. The movie was just a "Awesome" when viewed in 3D. many scenes like whenever T-Rex is introduced in the movie, bouncing balls, Fight sequences all seems to happen very close to my eyes. They are just the perfect scenes which gives a complete 3D experience.
Also the Blu-Ray set is a two disc set with all the "Extras" stuffed in the second disk. It contains
Commentary with Eric Brevig and Brendan Fraser
A World Within a World
Being Josh
How to Make Dinosaur Drool
The second disk comprises a completely minimalistic set of features. There is no documentart on how this movie was shot in 3D or how it was adopted from the novel of the same name. This is a big disappoinment.
But The only thing worth anything at all in the extras menu, is the ability to freely switch between the 2D and 3D versions of the film which is a part of the first Blu-Ray disc(movie disc). This is a good idea but still this second Bluray disk disappoints people.
Also the cover of the Blu-Ray disk set is a 3D hologram and its a nice idea and the box contains 4 Red-Green "so called' 3D glasses which is a huge disappoinment. Its like having a IBM 486 PC in todays world. The glasses gives us a feeling that we have pushed back to the early 1980's with a Blu-Ray disk on our hand.
'''These stock glasses are not just a perfect fit to watch this movie in 3D. I watched this using the stock 3D glasses and it really sucked up. Also the instructions to set up the TV also sucked up, a total waste of time. But as is owned 3D game goggles it was a pleasure watching this movie in 3D in my PC.'''
Coming for the acting part all the three characters act just fine. Fraser just exhibited natural acting in places of the movie when he loses his nephew. The other two also acts just fine. Also this movie contains flaw at some places especially in the climax sece. Sorry but let me not discuss about the flaws of the movie. But they can't be experienced when watching this movie as the movies' screenplay along with the 3D will make us to watch "spell bound".
Overall this movie is a good entertainer though it doesn't have a strong storyline. But the graphics decepting the centre of the Earth is just awesome when viewed in standard format itself.
Conclusion
So on the whole this movie is a great family entertainer (especially kids and children love this movie) where its like watching Indiana Jones in 3D format. One who loves adventure and action (at some points of the movie), this is a must watch film.
Sorry that i had to share my experience watching this movie in Blu-Ray 3D under this DVD section as i did not find any other appropriate section to write.
I recommend this Blu-Ray set to those who love 3D movies and who can afford to buy gaming goggles too as stock 3D goggles are total waste.
Also the screenshots attached are from the standard format movie only and not from 3D as it won't look good. This is for viewers convenience.

Jules Vernes's classic novel gets a high-tech update thanks to star Brendan Fraser and special-effects-supervisor-turned-director Eric Brevig. This action-filled family film takes full advantage of the 3-D format, making all the adventure larger than life.
