Advantages: Heartwarming, compelling, fantastic soundtrack
Disadvantages: If you hate country music then it's not for you!

...throughout the film that brought a tear to my eye (ok, ok, I was blubbing!!!) but the music was spirited and vivacious and kept me entertained throughout. The only thing I would say is that if you are not a lover of country music then you may not enjoy this film as that is primarily what Johnny Cash is about. Running Time: 136 minutes This film has been classified as 12 and think it would be ok for anyone above that age to watch although there is a small reference to drugs. ...Introduction My mum saw this a few weeks ago and highly recommended it, so as soon as it came out on DVD, I borrowed it from my local DVD store. Johnny Cash, about whom this film is about, is a household name, I know, although I have to admit I know very little about his music. Nevertheless, I've enjoyed the last few biopics I've seen about famous people I'd hardly heard of, so I was pretty sure that I'd find this one interesting, all the more so because it is based on Cash's own autobiography. The story Born in Arkansas to a cotton farmer, Johnny Cash wants to be a musician, but marrying early and having a child means that he is unable to fulfil his dream. ...This was a really great movie and one you should definitely see. It is about the life of Johnny Cash, the famed American country singer. Johnny Cash is played by Joaquin Phoenix and June Carter (his eventual wife) is played by Reece Witherspoon. I did not know anything about Johnny Cash before I saw this and even if you aren't a fan of his music that will not put you off the film. It chronicals his early life as a child (briefly) before he became famous and then his well publicised battles with drugs. The DVD also contains some special features such as audio commentary, 10 deleted scenes and the theatrical trailer. It is rated 12, only suitable for people over that age as it contains use of strong language and drug use. It is produced by 20th Century Fox and runs for approximately 130 minutes.
