John Tucker is the ultimate heart-throb - gorgeous, popular and head of the basketball team. But he's also a complete player. He dates three girls at the same time, all from different cliques so they never find out. But when the latest set of girls he dumps find out they've all been going out with the same guy, they decide to band together in a bid to get revenge. They bring the new girl in school in on their plan and shape her into the perfect girl in the hope of making John fall for her. And once he does, humiliation and heart-break is what's in store for John Tucker.
~ Cast ~ John Tucker - Jesse Metcalfe Kate - Brittany Snow Heather - Ashanti Beth - Sophia Bush Carrie - Arielle Kebbel
I remember seeing this when it first came out at the cinema and really enjoying it so I was quite excited to watch it again when it premiered on TV over the weekend.
Jesse Metcalfe was the perfect pick to play the very gorgeous and popular stud of the school. He fits the bill to a tee and you can understand why so many girls end up getting their hearts broken by him. He plays the part with charm and sincerity when he's trying to pull a girl, but then acts like a typical crude guy in the locker room with his mates.
The main girls in the film were all excellent with all very different personalities - Heather is the pretty one and head cheerleader who, despite being heartbroken by John, still wants to be with him; Beth is the slutty one who is up for anything and will do anything to get revenge; and Carrie is the smart one who takes her talent to creating the perfect way to pay John back. All the girls take their own talents and teach them to the new girl in the school, Kate, who has no idea or experience of boys. Each actress played their roles very well and each girls had a very different personality and characteristics.
I have to admit that I do have a soft spot for Jesse Metcalfe, who played the gardener in Desperate Housewives, and Sophia Bush, Brooke from One Tree Hill, so I think any film with these two in I'd have enjoyed.
There are lots of laugh out loud moments throughout the film where the girls are getting revenge (or trying to) on John including making him cry in front of all his team mates and persuading him to wear a thong. The ending does become a little cheesy but that's only to be expected from a film like this.
This is a fairly young sort of film with typical high-school shenanigans and is really aimed at teenagers or young adults. I wouldn't recommend it to older adults who don't usually enjoy high-school age films. I told my mum I'd enjoyed it and she went to see it but had a completely different opinion saying it was very silly and too young.
This is a very fun and enjoyable film and one for both the girls, who will love seeing the girls getting revenge, and one for the guys, seeing them playing all the girls.
