John Tucker Must Die is Mean Girls biggest competitor for the title of Best teen movie of 2006-2007. It stars many famous faces of tennage Hollwood such as; Jesse Metcalfe, Britanny Snow, Sophia Bush, Ashanti and Arielle Kebbel.
Synopsis!
John Tucker is that kid...the kid that no matter what you do to him he spins it so it goes in his favour such as; make him where a thong and then embarass himself wearing just that in front of his friends and then to find that the next day at school the whole basketball team are wearing them. This guy is a serial cheater and has three girlfriends named Beth, Carrie and Heather, but after these girls find out that they are being played by Tucker a polite, young new girl gives them some advice that they can't help but take: Don't Get Mad Get Even!!
So after taking this advice the three girls from differen't cliques set out to show him what it feels like to have his heart broken and they do this using the new girl Katie. As it happens Tucker cannot resist what he can't have and by making herself untouchable John falls deeply for her. This exposes the perfect opportunity for the three ex's to gain revenge by breaking his heart as he did them.
Characters!
Jesse Metcalfe plays the cute, self-obsessed, basketball playing John Tucker who has everything he wants girls inclusive. However even though he is the disgusting, cheating, repulsive guy even i started feel as though he was the
one. He is charming, irresistible and the perfect man... on the outside. Jesse Metcalfe is mostly known for his role as John Rowland the suburbian gardener in hit t.v show Desperate housewives, already capturing hearts of teenage girls all over the world. He is great at portraying his characters and like his role in John Tucker must DIE he can do no wrong...yet!
Britanny Snow plays the coy, inexpereinced teenager named Katie Spencer who just transfered to anew school where she meets heather, Beth and Carrie after experiencing Tuckers play as she works in the restuarant where he takes all of his dates. Snow is also a great actress she always performs superbly and her experience in television programmes such as; The American Dreams, Nip Tuck and Law and Order. She also starred alongside teen idol Vin Diesel in The Pacifier. Her performances always satisfy and make you want to buy more of her movies.
Sophia Bush plays the slut of the three ex-girlfriends. Sophia made her position as one of the teen idols in the hit television sit-com One tree hill. She played a troubled young girl falling in and out of love all the time. She was my favourite character in the movie as she came out with some great one liners like;
Heather: John and I belong together. He's the varsity captain, and after all, I AM the head cheerleader. Beth: Sorry what kind of cheerleader?
Heather is played by singer/ actress Ashanti. She is the Head cheerleader and one of the three ex's of John's who is trying to get revenge. Ashanti is one of the reasons why i wanted to watch the movie because i never thought of her as an actress but she did well in the movie not the best character in the movie but the acting was professional and her performance was fitting for the character.
Arielle Kebbel plays Carrie the brains of the three ex's. She is the school jurnalist and shows nothing but self respect and intelligence until she sees John. Kebbel has an amazing background in television and film appearing in hits such as; Grounded for Life, CSI: Miami and ClubHouse. Her character in the movie is quite annoying but i believe she is supposed to be. She is uptight and sarcastic which does not help. However the fact that she annoys is good for her acting because it shows she can portray her character honestly and perfectly.
DVD Extras!
There are not many extras for the DVD and if this is the only reason you would buy this i would not recommend this dvd but the movie great.
The first feature is the commentary by Betty Thomas and Mark Friedman which is quite interesting to find out what the crew were thinking whilst making the movit it also has little goofs that went on whilst filming which are fun to listen to.
Secondly there are two pittyful deleted scenes which last for well under a minute and are not very exciting or interesting to watch.
Thirdly On the Rebound which is just a piece of film goofing around with Jesse Metcalfe shooting hoops.
The next feature is a quiz on the movie which is quite fun to play with mates after watching the movie.
The fifth feature is a theatrical trailer which is exactly what you see on the adverts on television there is no more included.
Lastly there is a soundtrack promo set witch is also not very appealing or interesting.
The DVD extras are anything but fantastic and the case makes it look like a lot more than it is so don't fall for it!!!

Carrie: She's right. I mean he always making me feel guilty. Kate: It seems to me that if a guy treats you like that... Heather: [interrupts] You'd break up with him, blah, blah, blah... Beth: Even John would have another girlfriend in a second. Kate: No, I didn't say break up. I'd get even. [Carrie, Beth, and Heather look at her] Heather: Who are you? Beth: I know, you're that girl that wigged out last year and got sent to rehab! Kate: No, I... Beth: [interrupts] Then you got taken away from bulimia. Kate: No. Beth: Fat camp? Kate: No. My name is... Detention Teacher: [enters the library, interrupting] Hey, no talking! Kate: My name is... Detention Teacher: [interrupts] No talking!
John Tucker: Not deep? I am deep! I'm dating the poetry club!
Carrie: [eyes the boob cam] Beth's still in the truck. Heather: What? Carrie: Slut in truck!
The movie is filled with excellent one liners from all of the girls...there great!
Final thoughts!!
i loved the movie it was the next Mean Girls but more fiesty and encloses a better message Dont get mad, Get EVEN!!!
