John Jacobs - The Short Game DVD

Advantages: Hilarious
Disadvantages: Too funny, not serious enough as a golf advice DVD

...John Jacobs - the golf genius - unfortunately this DVD isn't as genius. When I first watched this DVD, I was eagerly anticipating some helpful tips to improve my game...however, I was too busy in fits of laughter to take it seriously. When you place this DVD in your DVD player, the first thing that greets you is a hilarious into scene, depicting classic upper-class sports such as boules, horse polo and randomers driving golf caddies around the idyllic resort. Of course, there is also some classic cheezy music to accompany the scene. So, once you've got over the laughter, a celebrity gives the spoken introduction....the celebrity being Sean Connery! Yes, it really is as bad as it sounds. So....once you've reached the actual advice part, you've got your fingers crossed, hoping that John is going to sort out all your golfing worries... ...for a million dollar ransom. Of course there’s only one man who can save the kid and that’s where Big Jake comes in! While he and his wife Martha haven’t seen each other for 18 years (apparently they’re not on speaking terms) she knows he’s the man for the job, and the only one that can save their 8 year old grandson. Accompanying him are his other two sons James, who doesn’t much care for Big Jake, and Michael, as well as his old friend Sam Sharpnose and his ever faithful Dog. Advantages: UNUSUAL STORY LINE
Disadvantages: MOST BE ABLE TO CONCENTRATE TO FOLLOW IT

...Jacob`s ladder is a film that could seriously blow your mind , I watched it twice before I grasped the full meaning , the plot twist in the end must rank among the most surprising film endings of all time , Tim Robbins puts in an excellent and compelling performance , basically the film is about one soldiers story there is action, excitement, mystery, horror, but I certainly would not want to spoil anything by telling you about how it all ends. This is a film you need to concentrate on and be prepared to see twice to really understand the hidden depth of the story . A classic film which you will only find enjoyable if you are prepared to completely immerse yourself in it. Available on video and D.V.D.... Read review
