Having finished the series Friends, Joey is the spin off to continue the acting career of Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) in Los Angeles.

He moves to LA with his sister and his nephew (both newcomers to the TV series genre), where he is pursuing his acting career full time. There, he meets (newcomer) Alex, his neighbour and landlady.
From there, everything just goes typical Joey - guest appearances by several big-name actors, the typical stupid situations, which could only be pulled off by Joey, and Joey's rather promiscuous attitude in LA.
Regular appearances include Lucy Liu (Charlies Angels) as Joey's director, American Pie's "Stifler's mom" as Joey's agent (who has quite a few issues, including her alcoholic addiction and weird sense of keeping up morale). Guest appearances also include Carmen Electra, Bob Saget (of Full House fame), and several other actors (whose names I cannot remember at this point).
The series itself is really establishing Joey as an actor pursuing his career in LA and lends itself to being credible, since there are the numerous "so you're an actor" references, auditions, what people will do to get auditions and connections (in one episode, Joey pretends to be a former student of a California college in order to get in with a group of people who know people "in the business").
Also, the series is mainly about Joey coping with the change from Chicago to Los Angeles. In that aspect, it is well done, with Joey and his neighbour, Alex (whose husband is never around, for some reason, coincidentally enough), his sister and nephew are not exactly what you'd expect - his nephew is a nerd, and his sister is almost on the same IQ level as Joey.
In terms of content and enjoyability, this series is very well put together and extremely enjoyable - I was literally rolling on my living room floor, laughing.
However, in terms of the DVD box set, it was very disappointing, because there were no extras - no blooper reel, no cast interviews, no image galleries, not even episode commentaries (or at least on the set I got).
As a result, this set is really about the series itself, with no extras, and my opinion on DVDs is that I must get something beside the bare movie/TV series content to purchase, otherwise, I would just let my DVR to the work and I can watch the series whenever I want; therefore, I would recommend that if your neighbourhood DVD library has TV series up for rent, grab this one.
Advantages: Get to see Joey Disadvantages: Seeing a great actor like Matt LeBlanc foreced to act in this rubbish series
...was much expected of the Joey series, but this was always doomed. Friends was one of the greatest tv shows and this would mean that it was near impossible to reach the heights of friends. If Joey was a show by itself it could have been seen as a average to a good series but with the friends background it takes a great built up character Joey who had a great cast around him to a cast of mostly unknown actors. You always compare the two shows when ...

...LA is perfect and gives Joey a chance to shine on his own for a change I had hoped they were not going to reply on old jokes too much to make him funny and bring him into own which he slowly doing throughout the series but alas they did.

...we find out. Lovable buffoon, Joey Tribbiani sets off west to the lure of Hollywood after all his friends settle down and have babies, leaving him all alone. The series starts about 3 months after 'Friends' has ended and Joey is living in LA, as an actor. Advantages: A fun witty comedy Disadvantages: Too many high expectations of it to be like friends
...friends, but the character of Joey is still the typical Joey you would watch and enjoy watching in friends. He still has his way with the ladies only now he has a protigee who wants to learn his womanizing ways in the form of his nephew a smart student. His sister is a fun character (Soprano`s), she`s the female version of Joey. And of course there`s his nextdoor neighbour the girl that just wants to fit in. But the most laughs come when his agent ...

...brilliant. If you liked Joey in friends then you should love this spin-off. And if you didnt like him there are plenty of new faces. Theres his sister Gina (Drea de Matteo), his newphew Michael (Paulo Costanzo) and his neighbour Alex (Andrea Anders). Its a show about everyday life for ...
