top of his game. He's unstoppable, but driven by his conscience he writes a 'mission statement' of a new belief that is quality not quantity, the people not the money , that really counts. Fired as soon as his boss reads the statement Jerry is soon stripped of his friends, fiancee and self-respect, and is forced to start from scratch. The only two people who stand by him are his sole remaining client, Rod Tinwell, a second-rate football player (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) and Dorothy Boyd (Renee Zellweger), a single mother inspired by his statement and zest for life, Jerry Maguire was nominated for 5 Academy Awards including Best Picture, with Cuba Gooding, Jr. winning Best Supporting Actor. Cruise's sports agent belonged to a world of fast-talking and real-time media. So a car stereo library of songs was the better way to go in portraying a blossoming relationship within that world. The album can look like a pooling of two people's collections (his being the recent go-getting variety: Springsteen's "Secret Garden", Aimee Mann's "Wise Up", Rickie Lee Jones' "The Horses"; hers being: The Who's "Magic Bus" and "Getting' In Time", Paul McCartney's "Singalong Junk" and "Momma Miss America", Elvis Presley's "Pocketful of Rainbows"), but fortunately the collection flows smoothly from one to the next. Nancy Wilson's "We Meet Again" is credited as the movie's theme, but just about any would have served the purpose as well. --Paul Tonks

So far there have been no reviews that have been helpful concerning this film. I believe that a good review has to be given because this film is deserved of a well given mention. Jerry Maguire is perhaps the best film Tom Cruise has starred in. This star studded comedy drama also includes the cast of Cuba Gooding Jr, Rene Zellweger, and Jonathan Lipnicki. I watched this film when I was just 13 years old. Every time I watch it the more it appeals to me with a message. Now i want to spread the word of this cult classic film.
Jerry Maguire is a sports agent. After a nervous breakdown he produces a mission statement, a book about how the business ethos of his profession has been destroyed and removed. He exclaims that there is too much dishonesty in his job and is the same for all sport's agents. This truth costs him his job, his relationship, and his clients who mostly join his rival Bob Sugar. The film shows his journey of how he gets back to the top through family, and especially the career of Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding Jr.)
This movie consists of great witty dialogue and is infamous for some of the most memorable phrases in film history. "Show me the money...help me help you...you complete me" were made famous from this film. Believe me there are reasons for this. Tom Cruise has adopted this role naturally, allowing the audience to be completely empathetic towards his character. His deliverance is slick and cool and his character is completely memorable. This was what made me love Tom Cruise. Even if you do not like him, this film has to be watched by people all ages. It has a heartfelt story which needs to be told to as many people as possible.

Jerry talks himself into marriage, taking the hand of René Zellwegers character (Dorothy Boyd). However, this is what leads to the rejuvenation of his life. Dorothy and her son are the characters that make the film more sentimental. They are the reason why this is such as fantastic family film. "Did you know that the human head weighs 8 pounds." The child actor Jonathan Lipnicki now known for his role in Stuart Little made himself famous in this film and is great in the role.
When you watch this film you will be repeating the phrases, and wanting to watch the film again. The storyline is solid and well progressed which is great. You can watch this film by yourself, or indeed with a group of friends. The film appeals to nearly all people and should not need me to tell people how good it is.
There are moments that may be tear jerking, but there are moments of great humour that makes this 139 minute film fly by in no time.
The film tackles many themes such as materialism, and the fact that family should come before work. If you are a person reading my review who puts work first, you need to buy this film and sit down with your family and enjoy it together. This film is not about special effects, visual effects, but about personal gain from family.
Trust me however; this is not a sappy film. It is funny, witty, intelligent, classy, and contains large strands of genius. It would be a mistake to never watch this in your lifetime.
When I watch it I feel completely absorbed in the story. It grabs you and you can't not help but love it. Each character is fantastic. The director has got the best out of Cruise in this film, and when he is at his best you know it is a much watch.
"Conclusion"
This film was one of the best made in the 20th century. I know that all of you know this film already. However, this review is just to remind or persuade people to watch again or for the first time and to not miss out. A mix of drama and comedy is always exciting, and this film has got elements of both that are ingenious. Jerry Maguire is 5 stars to anybody who watches no ifs or buts. This is truth. Watching once can be a great 2 hour ride, but for those lucky enough to see it again and again, the hours of enjoyment will be considerably longer. The film will entertain you no matter how many times you watch it. It really does get better and better. I recommend this film for all ages, of any generation.
5 star = watch it !!! £1.99 and above in pice on Amazon.
I hope you enjoyed reading the review and I hope you really do watch this film in the near future. Best of luck to all review writers.
If there isa film you want me to review before you watch it then leave a message in my guestbook.

...1996, director Cameron Crowe's film Jerry Maguire hit the screens, with the tagline 'Everybody Loved Him ... Everybody Disappeared'. The Cast and Performances

Advantages: The great casting of Cuba Godding Jr in one of his first "big time" films. Disadvantages: The unability to see Rene as a mother after seeing her in Bridget Jones!
When I first saw this movie about 4 years ago I absolutely loved it and could not stop saying "SHOW ME THE MONEY" (after a while my friends stopped seeing the funny side ! ) The casting of Cuba, Cruise and Rene in the same film seemed like an odd mix but works brilliantly. I especially liked the caracter played by Cruise, especially liked the way his caracter was a loser because it isn't often you get to see Cruise doing parts where he isn't bigging ...

Advantages: Ticks many boxes for a chick flick Disadvantages: a little far fetched
What a great film. Not a massive fan of Tom Cruise, but he does a good job of playing a man who loses nearly everything. A good balance of a light hearted film. JerryMaguire, a hot shot sports agent, whos life slowly crumbles around him. One scary ex-girlfriend, a new start, a goldfish, Cuba Gooding Jr, Renee Zellwegger, broken hearts, cute kid, cringe worthy moments and happy endings. Have watched the film many times, it can be a bit irritating how dumb Jerry can be when it comes to love. You will be left with a phrase in your mind, if you watch it more than once, which will connect you with others, reminding you of probably the best bit of the film. You will just want to shout "SHOW ME THE MONEY!" ...
Advantages: 3 great films in one Disadvantages: If you only wanted 2 of the films the third can be a pain to pay for
These three films are all great in themselves- a mixture of the funny and light hearted- hitch- to the deeply heartfelt Closer, a portrayal of everyday relationships and betrayals.
I love Closer as a film- it's one slightkly out of the ordinary, one that makes you think and everyone i know who has seen it loves it.
Hitch is a good film, i would'nt say it is the best comedy filmi've seen but its good for a night in to just watch and enjoy the light hearted humour. There is a contrast here to Closer as this film is much more light viewing.
Jerrymaguire is a lovely film, well worth buying this for this film (and Closer).Sentimental perhaps but well researched and believeable and Tom Cruise is very admirable. Cuba Gooding Jnr is entertaining and the actors are all funny in this very worthwhile story about greed, the power & love of money. ...

DVD Description
Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise), a slick, high-living sports agent, is tired of the shallowness of his profession and wants to live a more fulfilling, ethical life. But Jerry's new outlook doesn't mesh with his agency's ethics, and he is promptly fired. Jerry finds himself left with one ally, one client, and a long road ahead of him. Along the way he finds something more important than money--love. Cruise, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Renee Zellweger turn in outstanding performances in this romantic comedy written and directed by Cameron Crowe.
Crowe's film is often credited for being one of the seminal romantic comedies of the 90s and bridges the gap between his smaller, earlier films (SAY ANYTHING, SINGLES) and the high profile features ALMOST FAMOUS and VANILLA SKY that would follow. Cruise delivers a likeable, sensitive performance and is ably supported by the Zellweger and Gooding Jr, the latter won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
