I've decided to write a quick review on Jeff Dunham's Spark of Insanity as I have found it is one of the best comedy acts I have seen for a while and would like to recommend it to other viewers out there. Most of the show is light hearted and very funny, full of jokes, jibes and general insults to each other however there is an issue with Achmed the dead terrorist especially in South Africa - I believe he has been banned over there.

For those of you who have never heard of Jeff Dunham, Jeff is a comedian and ventriloquist rolled into one from the USA. Jeff has had multiple theatre sell out shows along with selling over 500,000 DVD's as well as all the other merchandise he sells. Jeff lives in the states along with his wife, daughters, Bill the Labrador and the Chihuahua's one of who is called Rusty who likes to pee on his wife when they have had an argument.

With popular favourites such as Walter, Peanut, Jose Jalapeno (on a steeek!) and his latest characters Melvin the super hero and Achmed the dead terrorist! The character puppets he works with make this comedy act work, they are very funny to watch and you can see that Jeff has a raw talent as he is literally arguing with himself.

Jeff's first DVD which was released in 2005 was called Arguing with Myself who featured Walter, Peanut, Jose, Sweet Daddy Dee and Bubba J

All these characters live in "the suitcase but as the act progresses each character makes a jibe or a joke at one of the others, this is reason you should really watch the whole DVD from the beginning so you get most of the jokes.

If you go on to You Tube you can see the videos of any of the character's these have been watched by thousands if not millions of people from around the globe.

CHARACTERS

I will tell you a little about each character but without giving too much away - here's a rough guide to each character and what their outcome of life is.

WALTER - Walter is a bit of an old man with a scrunched up face basically nothing but a winger, he's a little bit like our Victor Meldrew from One Foot in the Grave. Walter has a very dry sense of humour, is very cantankerous and loves nothing more to moan about his missus, today's issues and he is now fighting to become America's next president and not forgetting he likes to fart.

ACHMED - Achmed at the moment is becoming a bit of a political issue with some people due to him being called Achmed the dead terrorist. Achmed is a new character he's a skeleton who wear's a turban, has a black beard and bushy eyebrows. When Jeff Dunham asks him where he came from - Achmed replies "your fricking suitcase". Achmed say's he has a flesh wound and is not dead but has just has his flu shot. He also makes fun of other stars and his puppet friends but most of all he is terrified of Walter. Walter refers to him as a stinking Halloween decoration and would like nothing more then to gas him with a Walter fart. Achmed's famous saying is "Silence I kill you"

I don't want to say too much because not only would it spoil the act but some people may be offended by the issues Achmed is referring to.

MELVIN THE SUPERHERO - One of the other new characters I think personally he is a little bland and boring with is superhero cape with a D on, shock of yellow plastic hair which falls off and he has a very large nose and his caption is da da da daa, Melvin thinks he is the best hero around and even thinks Louis Lane from Superman is a whore! Melvin's act is one of the shortest acts but does make fun of today's events, he also states he fights bad crime and today he was fighting a terrorist - you guessed it Achmed!

JOSE JALAPENO - Jose Jalapeno on a stick or steek is exactly what he is, may sound a bit boring but he is a very funny character especially when he is interacting with Peanut! Jose also wants to hire Achmed to kill Peanut as Peanut does pick on Jose quite a bit and the show often erupts in the two having a friendly banter of calling each other names - this is a running battle between the two. But the question is - Is Jose an illegal immigrant?

PEANUT - If the audience reaction is anything to go by Peanut really is the star of the show, he is also my favourite character and you can't help but fall in love with this purple wuzzle type puppet with a flop of green fur on his head. He does nothing but pick on poor Jeff and Jose. One of Peanut's funniest bits is when he says to Jeff that he needs a tick tac for his bad breath or should I say Dun Ham bad breath, he also accuses poor Jeff of picking his nose - Peanut wants Jeff to make his nose talk with a French Accent! He says to him "you're a ventriloquist make it talk".
Peanut's phrases include his famous laugh, Focus and Am I pissing you off fa fa.

Peanut interacts very well with both Jeff and Jose and without him the show would be incomplete.

For the record one of my Christmas presents from my other half is a talking Peanut doll.

COMMENTS

I don't really watch much comedy as I tend to have the wrong sense of humour and don't find some things as funny as other people do, what I mean is my boyfriend could be rolling around the floor laughing and I'm there thinking "What's so funny" therefore I can't really compare Jeff to any of our acts over here in the UK. Yes I watch Peter Kay, Jack Dee, Catherine Tate and comedy such as Little Britain but none compare to Jeff Dunham.

With Jeff Dunham we are both rolling around the floor laughing - it is just so funny to watch the characters, their movements and the comments they say, before you ask I hated Punch and Judy as a child so its not that I have a thing for puppets!

It would suit any age over the age of 12.

If you watch any of today's comedians you will not be offended by the things said on the show, however if you are easily offended I suggest you give the show a miss.
