I really enjoyed this remake of the Charlotte Bronte classic. This is one of my all time favorites anyway and I've seen pretty much every version of Jane Eyre out there and this is definately one of the better quality adaptations.
This well known tale is about the orphan Jane Eyre who after surviving a pretty tough childhood in the Lowood School for Girls applies to become a governess at Thornfield Hall which brings her into the presence of her young charge Adele, and the enigmatic Lord of the Manor Mr Rochester.
As time passes the relationship between Jane and Mr Rochester develops and Jane has to deal with her new burgeoning feelings plus overcome jealously of a rival and work out what is going on with all the mysterious noises in the attic. On top of this there are secrets in Mr Rochester's life that threaten their happiness.
The acting is of a good quality and both Toby Stephen's as Mr Rochester, and Ruth Wilson as Jane Eyre come across as believeable characters. There is also a great supporting cast including Francesca Annis, Christina Cole and Tara Fitzgerald.
I would recommend this to any Charlotte Bronte fans out there and alsoto anyone who is looking for a entertaining tale of intrigue, romance and mystery.
