Love him or hate him, you can't dispute that JamieOliver has changed the way cooking is viewed nowadays. He has made cooking more accessible and has brought into the public eye the benefits of healthy eating and using fresh produce.
His 'Return of the NakedChef' is my favourite cook book, so I thought I'd share its delights with you. This book was published in 2000 to accompany Jamie's second TV series, so it is a bit old now but definitely worth adding to your kitchen shelf, due to its diverse array of recipes. As it is a few years old now it can normally be found on special offer - its £9 now on Amazon.
Jamie was originally named the 'NakedChef' due to his beliefs in cooking - using the bare essentials in your cupboard and stripping down restaurant methods to the reality of home. He takes the recipes from his restaurants ...

In 1999 I vaguely recall channel-hopping and seeing this young and rather brash lad cooking a barbeque for his mates and his missus, Jules. The programme didn’t hold my attention for more than a few minutes because this lad was annoying; really hip, cool and trendy. It was JamieOliver and I wasn’t into hip, cool and trendy (they aren’t words you would apply to me at any rate). However, in 2001 I found myself buying a copy of ‘THE NAKEDCHEF’, published in 1999 and based on this TV series. I can’t actually remember what prompted me to make this purchase, but I do remember that my feelings towards JamieOliver verged more on the side of respect than dismissal.
It’s now 2003 and I have a lot of time for JamieOliver. He’s still hip, cool, trendy, a bit ...

JamieOliver's style of cooking is quite different to a lot of the TV chefs these days, where they go for the perfect finish he tends to concentrate on the finish and the look of the dish whereas he is more interested in the freshness of the ingredients and the taste.
I have had this book for years but it has not been until recently that I have been using it. At first glance it seemed too fancy and weird. Not that any of the foods were difficult to find but it was different to the normal run of the mill cookery books. However I did keep it and having watched some of the programmes on Saturday Kitchen I see some of the recipes and I look in my book and there they are. Then you read it and look at it and then realise that it is not all that difficult at all.
