...This collection featuring the actor James Stewart showcases all that is sincere in his body of work. Vertigo ( an alfred hitchcock vehicle) is a money that signposts the maincharacters inadequecies but it gets turned around to his advantage. James Stewart played great men such as Glen Miller in the Glen Miller Story or as flyer in the Spirit in St. Louis. He was an accredited pilot who signed up for world war 2. His forays into the classic western still stand as in Shenendoah where he tries to hold a family together while being pursued by both sides during the American civil war. He can do light and sweet as in - Harvey, the classic well-known- It's a wonderful life. His style is one quiet sincerity.... Read review

Advantages: An aesthetically pleasing collection
Disadvantages: Some rather poor inclusions

...A selection of classic Hammer films from the very good to...not so good. An aesthetically pleasing set for fans of the studio, or those wanting at least half of the titles. Features star favourites Peter Cushing, Raquel Welch, Ursula Andress and Christopher Lee (about whom there is an interesting documentary with 'Scars of Dracula'). The extra features vary greatly, the biggest ommission, in my opinion, is the total absence of subtitles for the hearing impaired. For those who are interested all films are anamorphic, some for the first time, and completely uncut. My personal favourite was the inclusion of the 1965 film 'The Nanny' which stars a very chilling Bette Davis in a well scripted, and often overlooked role. Advantages: Well acted, Great Book Adaptation Storylines, Fun for All Ages
Disadvantages: Each Movie is About Three Hours Long

...Everytime I hear someone mention "Anne of Green Gables" I instantly remember my childhood. It's so rare nowadays for the current generation of children to be interested in movies based on literature without violence, sex, or action. This should be an outrage since there is so much to be gained from great pieces of older literature. My dearest hope is that some younger ones out there get to experience the wonder and story of Anne Shirley. If your not familiar with this movie trilogy or the books, let me help you understand in a brief summary. Anne Shirley is an orphan in the early 1900's who gets adopted (quite by accident) by an old spinster woman and her bachelor brother.
