He takes part of the peace mission of UNO in ex-Yugoslavia. It was at this moment that he discovers his interest for music. He left the Army en 2002 et and devotes itself to its passion. He leaves for Los Angeles where he makes contacts which permit to him to record his first album: "Back To Bedlam". With his pure, limpid and so strange voice, James Blunt arrives in ten tracks to seduce a large public and his single "You're Beautiful" is number one in a lot of countries announcing a long and profitable career.

This cd has 12 songs which was recorder in December 2005 during his tour in Ireland. At listening, I think that it's an intimate concert in a little room. I also think that it's an acoustic concert. This gives more intensity to his songs and "Goodbye my lover" is sumptuously interpreted and gives to me more shiver than usually. The song "No Bravery" (the third one which is now broadcast on radio), one of my favourites (after "Goodbye my Lover") is also marvellously interpreted and we can feel the anger in his voice.
These are the 12 songs of the album:
1. Wisemen ------------ I like very much this song. The beat of the battery gives a good rhythm to the song and it is very well interpreted by James (like are all the other songs of the album besides). Grad: 8/10

High ------- This song begins with the sweet voice of James Blunt and his guitar. Then, the battery makes its entry like the other instruments. This is a beautiful song. I like it very much!! This song says to us that if you have joy or sorrow, that if you see the truth through their lies, or if you see the world has through disturbed eyes and that you wish more to speak about it, you can cry over its shoulder. This can also going in the other direction. Personally, this song gives me shivers and I felt a little tear to come to tickle me the eyes… Grad: 10/10

4. Goodbye my lover ----------------------- This song is the one I prefer. The first time I heard it, I think it was during the "Star Academy" (a sort of Pop Idol). This song is quite simply sublime. In this song, James Blunt sings just accompanied by a piano what makes the song even more beautiful. It speaks to us about a separation. A hard separation because he talks to us about his first and only love. Grad: 10/10 (even so 20/10!!!!!!)

5. So long Jimmy ------------------ This song is dedicated to Jimmy Hendrix. This song, on the contrary of the other, doesn't speak about love. It has more rhythm than the other. I like it very much. Grad: 9/10

Sugar coated -------------------- Compared to the first album left in the trade, this song is a new one. As a French girl, I don't really understand the song. If somebody wants to explain to me, this will be very cool!!! I like this song but it's not one of my favourite. Grad: 8/10

I've had a smoke and it's been a while. It's been a while…7. You're beautiful ------------------- Who didn't hear this beautiful song???? I think that everybody already hummed and personally, it is my alarm clock. Because I'm alone, it is necessary well that somebody says to me that I am beautiful!!!! isn't it? Lol This song was written following a memory of James Blunt. The history of the song is a lived history. It's one of the few songs which in spite of these too multiple diffusions out of radio does not weary me. It is really splendid!!!! Grad: 10/10

Billy ------- It's again a song that I love a lot musically saying. This is a fast rhythm one (not a piece of wild rock'n'roll but it is very sympathetic!! Grad: 8/10
Small extract ----------------- Billy's leaving today (don't know where he's going). Holds his head in disgrace (he can't escape the truth). He knows the price that he's paid. He admits that it's too late to admit that he's afraid. Tomorrow comes. Sorrow becomes his soul mate. The damage is done. The prodigal son is too late. Old doors are closed but he's always open, To relieve time in his mind. Oh Billy…
9. Fall at you feet ------------------ Another song which was not in the first album. Again, the beautiful voice of James Blunt accompanied with guitar and piano. I like it because it changes a little than others!!! Grad: 9/10

Tears and rain ----------------- This song begins with a mix of piano and guitar which is very cool and sweet. It's again a very beautiful ballad where the sweet voice of James Blunt walks us in a very beautiful song. Like a one before, if somebody can help me to understand a little more, do not hesitate!!! Grad: 9/10

I've heard what they say, but I'm not here for trouble. It's more than just words: it's just tears and rain…11. No Bravery -------------- This song talks about what James Blunt see where he was in ex-Yugolsavia. This song, after "Goodbye my lover", is marvellous. Like in "Goodbye my Lover", there is only the voice of James and a piano. It's the third song which passes on the radio. It's a very sad song and the first time a listen to it, some tears came at my eyes. I love it!!!! Grad: 10/10

And I see no bravery, No bravery in your eyes anymore. Only sadness.
12. Where is my mind ? -------------------------- It's the last (but not least) song of the album. Of course, like all the song, I like it very much (who can have a doubt about it?? lol). One of his musicians sings with him like a choral. His voice gives a very beautiful effect to the song. I like it!!! Grad: 9/10
Small extract --------------- Ooooooh With your feet in the air and your head on the ground Try this trick and spin it, yeah Your head will collapse But there's nothing in it And you'll ask yourself Where is my mind [3x]…To conclude about the album, it is quite simply marvellous. Between sweet song and more English pop, this album makes you vibrate, will touch you deeper and you will ask just one thing: Again!!!!!! I'm keen on this album!!!!

Here in detail what each part of this menu includes and well on, I would make you share of my opinion.
- Live in concert at the BBC ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.
This concert was record in November 2005 in the BBC's studios. James is accompanied of his band composed of:
- Paul Beard: keyboards and voice - Malcolm Moore: bass and voice - Benjamin Castle: guitar and voice - Karl Brazil: battery.
The "Millennia Ensemble", a whole of cords, composed of six violins and of two cellos, and also three chorus-singers accompanied also James Blunt.
He sings all the songs of his first album "Back to Bedlam" and also a new track:
- Billy - High - Wisemen - Goodbye my lover - Tears and rain - Out of my mind - so long, Jimmy - You're beautiful - Cry - No bravery - Where is my mind? (new track).
This concert is excellent and there I would have liked to be because it's the kind of concert that I like very much, with only a thousand of person. In short, nothing more close friend, and it is what there is best to listen to this kind of music. I looked at it as soon as I bought it and I appreciated it much.
To see him singing into live all these songs gives more force and intensity that they do not give any already on the first album studio. Moreover, on the track "Goodbye my lover", he is at the edge of the tears because this song tells a history which he lived. This song is its favourite on this album. In the same way, on "No bravery", song which touches me much considering the topic approached (the war in Kosovo), an intense emotion crosses the public present and James Blunt is all with his art, I adored this passage.
Moreover, the fact that a whole of cords accompanied him makes the songs even more authentic. Really, I'm keen on this concert,
I watch this concert on my home cinema and we really have impression to be at the concert. The music surrounds us. We have impression to be in the crowd!!! It's really excellent!!! The quality of the image is of course really good. So, it's a really good moment that I passed in my lounge, failing to see it in real. I also watch it in Dolby Digital stereo but it's not as good as the other version.- Bonus features ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~
When James Blunt makes a dvd (a way of speaking), he doesn't do it at the half. So, here is what he offers to us:
clips et their making of: --------------------------------- To watch the making-of of every clip, you press enter when the clip is on.
- Goodbye my lover I think that some of you have seen this clip. It takes place in a home where we can see a woman makes with his lover cuddles. James Blunt appears in it sad and lonely; singing to us this marvellous song talking about a break-up which he lived.
In the making-of, we learn little information about the direction that I prefer let you discover. The two actors are Misha Barton and Matt Dallas (young man who is very happy to make this clip where there is son much cuddle to do with a beautiful woman). The director is Sam Brown.
- Wisemen The clip begins in a coffee ("le café de Paris" in Piccadilly Circus in London) and it ends at the beach. The song is very nice. The clip is a little strange. He is directed by Mark Davis.
- High (orginal version) The clip begins on a plan of James blunt who he's buried in the desert with just his head which is under. Then we can see him wander in the desert and have some hallucinations, like seeing Elvis, a beautiful woman becoming ugly… The clip was direct in Tenerife (Canaries Islands) not far from Teide mount, volcano which is always in activity. The clip, directed by Mark Davis, is again a little weird but very nice. And then in any event, I like very much the song and I found the clip adapted.
- High (version 2005) This clip is completely different than the other. It takes place in two different parts, one in a dance room and the other in the forest. This clip is less interesting than the other but maybe more adapter to a broadcast. But again, this clip is also very good. This time, it's Sam Brown who directed it.
- You're beautiful I think that everybody have seen this clip. Yes you know, this very good clip where James Blunt strips himself and ended up throwing top of cliff (no, no, it doesn't burst the head while landing, sorry men, there is water below!!! Lol). I am sure that you see about which clip I speak. The clip was directed in Majorca. The making-of gives us different information about the clip but the information which marked me the most; it's that it's really him who jumps of cliff. He has had to train him in a swimming-pool from diving board of 9 meters but the cliff was with 12 meters. Ended, I like the clip as much as the song. Even if I found that radios, as with their bad habits, diffused it too much.
To make short and to conclude this part, my opinion of this clip is that there are very good. I would never weary myself to look at the clip of "Goodbye my coiling" and "You' Re beautiful". I will put you some photographs of those which I captured directly of the dvd when I would be green pastille.
The documentary ---------------------- This documentary of 16 minutes is composed of parts of live, passages of clips and an interview of James Blunt. He talks us about love, his album, Linda Perry is producers, about his musicals influences, the army (we can see some pictures that he films when he was there)…
This documentary is very interesting and gives us the occasion to learn a lot about James Blunt, his life, his music. The parts of live that we can see aren't part from the BBC's live, which is very nice because we can see him in another way. I appreciate very much this documentary but I found it to short to my taste.The interview ------------------ This is a short interview of ten little minutes. He speaks us about the army (from the Kosovo to be a guard of the Queen), about his meet with Linda Perry (producer who lets him liberty of creation)… During this interview, we see others moments of the BBC's live, particularly when he talks us about the meaning of some songs.
I like very much this interview which completes the documentary. This interview gives us new information. I think that it could have been a little longer because, for example for the various songs of his album, it speaks to us especially about those which one can see the clips. But it could have been good to learn some more on the others.
The pictures ---------------- Part that I like even if the 24 pictures are not enough at my taste!!!! I want more!!! The majority is black in white.
To conclude about the dvd, and well it's easy, I have got a good idea to offer me this very very good album!!!! As much I had waited for the first one because I did not know every songs of this young man, as much now, I do not hesitate. The first time he was on tour in France I miss him, now I have bought my ticket for the live of the 10th of July. The only default that I found to this dvd is that it is too short!!! But even longer, would I've been satisfied?? This is another story!!
To conclude about the product (price: 19 euros), I find it really excellent and I loved it. At my job, I always listen to it. All the people who love the first album will love this one. And he's better than the first. So I have just one thing to say : Buy-it!!!! lol
