After watching several episodes of Jackass on the TV, I decided that I would buy the film. I bought it for £4 in ASDA; money well spent. The DVD case claims to have limited edition collectors packaging, but this means nothing to me.

them pull on television. Johnny Knoxville and his insane crew take the concept of the MTV show Jackass - a bunch of guys doing dangerous and disturbing stunts just to see what happens - to the extreme. This time it's not edited for television!

mortal danger. JACKASS: THE MOVIE may go down in history as the most irresponsible, outrageous footage ever to be released by a major Hollywood studio. Based on the MTV show of the same name, creators and co-producers Jeff Tremaine, Johnny Knoxville, and Spike Jonze stretch their surprisingly successful concept into a feature-length outing. Entering a rental car in a demolition derby, snorting wasabi, eating a urine-soaked ice-cream cone, self-inflicting paper cuts, and using a store's display toilet are just a few of the increasingly obscene antics that unfurl at a relentless pace. A large portion of the footage finds the pranksters in Japan, dressing up in outlandish outfits and wreaking havoc on the unsuspecting locals. As incredible as it sounds, JACKASS: NUMBER TWO is one of the most profitable studio films in history (at least relative to its budget). Highlights this time around include a four-person seesaw in the middle of a bull ring; Knoxville, Pontius, and Margera being blasted with riot control pellets; fellow skate video alumnus Spike Jonze in elderly-woman makeup losing his clothing in public; and Knoxville blasting off on the outside of a rocket. And that's just for starters. NUMBER TWO gets its twisted, sadistic kicks out of the 'actors' sustaining puncture wounds and other injuries to their persons, and more male nudity than one normally sees in a mainstream release (including a surplus of scarred and bruised bottoms). The film is bookended by two beautifully shot sequences--first the gang does a jaw-dropping running of the bulls down a suburban street. Then (and nothing is being spoiled here) the film concludes with an elaborate Busby Berkeley musical number. Love it or loathe it, JACKASS represents a new breed of slapstick entertainment for the 21st Century, incorporating the modern world's fascination with reality television and obsession with disaster into a raucous, electrifying spectacle.

The Film If you have seen any episodes of Jackass on the TV, the film is no different. It consists of many short sketches of daft and dangerous stunts and pranks. Jackass created the film so that they could show more dangerous and outrageous stunts that they couldn't show on the TV. If you have never seen Jackass before, this should give you a good idea of the kinds of things they do: fireworks and somebody's arse. I say no more. There is also quite a lot of nudity involved. The film lasts for just under 1½ hours, so is neither too long or too short. If you are squeamish, this is not the movie for you as it involves quite a lot of excrement, blood and guts, making many of the crew members sick. The cast is the same as on the MTV TV show, with Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O and the rest of the insane 'stuntmen'.
The Bonus Features Included in the DVD are over five hours of bonus features. Amongst these is 27 minutes of additional footage, which for some reason, they decided not to include in the feature film. There is also a reel of outtakes, which isn't all that funny, and a short 'making of' film. This is quite interesting, as there is a bit more organisation involved than meets the eye. Also included is a short biography of each cast and crew member.
The list of bonus features is: Commentary by director, cinematographer, and Johnny Knoxville Jackass cast group commentary MTV's 'making of the jackass movie' 27 minutes of additional footage Jackass the movie promo spots Outtakes Music video 'we want fun' by Andrew W.K Music video 'if you're gonna be dumb' by Roger Alan Wade Theatrical trailer Cast and crew biographies Photo and poster gallery English subtitles
If you don't like foul language, mad dangerous people or blood and sick, then this film is definitely not for you.

One thing I should mention is that a few of the sketches include strobe lighting effects. It does say this on the DVD cover, but in very small writing.

and caused an international debate - on one side, those, like me, who think its fantastically entertaining TV, and on the other side, those who think that its an outrage and that grown men shouldn't be allowed to degrade themselves in that way.
The Jackass TV series ignored the critic and the controversy, and inevitably spawned a movie - Jackass The Movie. An inspired title!

JACKASS: THE MOVIE may go down in history as the most irresponsible, outrageous footage ever to be released by a major Hollywood studio. Based on the MTV show of the same name, creators and coproducers Jeff Tremaine, Johnny Knoxville, and Spike Jonze stretch their surprisingly successful concept into a feature-length film. Watch cast regulars Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Bam Margera, Dave England, Ryan Dunn, Jason Wee Man Acuna, Preston Lacy, Ehren McGehey, and Brandon Dicamillo as they perform a series of ridiculously dangerous and dangerously stupid stunts. Entering a rental car in a crash-up derby, snorting wasabi, eating a urine-soaked snow-cone, self-inflicting paper cuts, and using a store's display toilet are just a few of the increasingly obscene antics that unfurl at a relentless pace. A large portion of the footage finds the pranksters in Japan, dressing up in outlandish outfits and wreaking havoc on the unsuspecting locals. Whether or not this is a hysterical romp or a waste of eighty minutes is for the viewer to decide, but the fact can't be argued, JACKASS: THE MOVIE is slapstick entertainment for the 21st Century, incorporating the modern world's fascination with reality television and obsession with disaster into a raucous, electrifying spectacle.
