Advantages: The cause of all the 70's and 80's sex comedies Disadvantages: Really dated now, but still worth a watch
...As the 70's paved their way for the 1980's something new emerged on the horizon, the graphic sex comedy. While movies like Animal House, and Porky's were the most notably known for this style of humour, their path was laid for them by a most unexpected source a small Israeli movie called Lemon Popsicle. Also known as Eskimo Limon, or Going All The Way the Lemon Popsicle movies were so popular and successful that they made nine, yes nine sequels; and even went as far to being re-made as an American movie though this bombed under pressure to be like the original movies.
I guess I could be stereotypically classifying the people of Israel, but when I think about the country I think about three things, religion, war and the Jewish community. In the Lemon Popsicle movies only one of the three things is ever really present. When I first saw...

Advantages: Fascinating case, Fuhrman is a really interesting guy Disadvantages: Plodding and unconvicing film
...without a cinema run. The second reason is that the film is very linear, it's a murder film without any real violence or horror, because that's not what the film is about.
So the film in my view falls between being entertainment and a documentary programme, because it's neither. I'd really rather watched this having been made in a documentary style, but because the murder of the girl was real, it is difficult to gain any "enjoyment" from it being a horror film.
The DVD has very few extras, just the standard sub-titles and a couple of trailers. I've mentioned in the past in my reviews that I always like extras as I believe that they add some extra depth to the film, and so it's disappointing that there aren't any on this DVD. I suppose however that this is understandable given the low production costs and the intention in making the film a non...

Advantages: A classic, very imaginative, not too long Disadvantages: Misses out quite a lot that was in the book
...A really cute Disney classic based on the book by Lewis Carroll!
Advantages - much more child-friendly than the book! If you aren't aware of the plot, it centres around a young girl called Alice who sees a white rabbit escaping down a rabbit hole. She jumps in after it and enters a crazy unknown world full of weird and wonderful characters. Much confusion follows, leading to a dramatic build-up and happy ending :) Visually stimulating and much easier to grasp when the images are in front of you rather than trying to imagine them from the book. The film is loyal to the book and includes scenes with the rabbit-hole chase, Tweedledum and Tweedledee and the Queen of Hearts. It's not too long a film, around an hour and a half. Special features of the DVD are obviously limited, with the film being so old, but an effort has been made. There...
