Advantages: Downey Jr. gets a big blockbuster movie Disadvantages: The villain is sadly obvious
...into a movie along comes Iron Man. As a superhero legend Iron Man is often forgotten despite popularity as a comic strip character, it was often said that Stan Lee would not allow to be turned to a movie character until it could be done right. I'm happy to say from the offset that Iron Man does succeed in the realm of the superhero movie, working to the right audience by making Iron Man a movie for adults that kids would undoubtedly want to see, ... ...movies for the masses, unlike Iron Man which will without a doubt give the actor the massive audience not only that he needed, but deserves. Not only does the two characters fact/fiction have lifestyle similarities, if you look all the way back to Stan Lee's original comics the two actually look very much alike too.
The bad guy initially in Iron Man is the Muslim terrorists, and I guess it's only right that a man who makes his money from weapons ...

Advantages: Great central performance Disadvantages: 'Durkha, durkha' terrorists, many plot holes
...and see a film like Iron Man, it's safe in the knowledge that I'm about to see a hugely silly film with lots of cool explosions and a terrific cast, and a vague attempt at a 'serious' subtext so that the director can look his parents in the eye unashamed over Christmas dinner. Robert Downey Jr, then, is Iron Man. A superhero I'd never really heard of, who is pretty much as generic as it gets (he flies! He hits people! He's bullet-proof!). Tony Stark ... ...cut and dried) and becomes Iron Man in order to destroy caches of his own weapons and to fight corruption within his own company. It's a bit too long, has an arms dealer as a hero, his friend in the Air Force might as well wear a big jumper with the letter 'T' on it, it wasn't worth Gwyneth Paltrow coming out of her semi-retirement, and the Afghan fighters that are the enemy for much of the film come over as slightly less sophisticated than those ...

Advantages: Good acting, nice effects, good comic book adaptation Disadvantages: not many, a numb backside maybe
Iron Man was originally a comic book, it's title character, Tony Stark
A.K.A. Iron Man an unconventional superhero in the fact that he personally does not possess any super-human powers. You could say his gift is that he has a brilliant mind. His abilities come from a suit which he designs during the film. This suit leads to him being dubbed the Iron Man, from his original crude version of the suit. His perfected design is a 'Platinum-Gold' alloy ... ...well all the way through, and will probably do the same for you.
Apologies for the length of this review, but I wanted to be thorough. I hope you enjoyed my interpretation anyway and I hope that if you watch it, you enjoy Iron Man just like I did... ...

...I am reviewing the Iron Man movie which is only in the cinema at present, so I cant tell you any DVD features yet.
I have seen this in the cinema yesterday. I knew nothing about iron man; that he was a superhero of some sort.
The story
Robert Downey Jnr plays Tony Stark - A weapon designer and maker for the armed forces out in war gets captured when he goes over to Afghanistan to promote his newest weapon to the US ARMED FORCE. He was captured ... ...Tony then wants to become IRON MAN, and protect the world. With the help of his close personal assistant and Air Force Lieut. Colonel Jim Rhodes - they will make him IRON MAN.
My Opinion
I knew nothing about this film until I watched it yesterday, and my first problem were that it's a PG 13 and some of the scenes in this movie are way to graphic for children viewing. It should be at least a 15 or even more. Tony Stark is a womaniser also so it ...
