Right... All my friends told me this was the best film ever, it's scary but a really great story to it, so I went to town in search for it. I looked in HMV, no sign of it, I looked in Zavvi, also no sign of it, so I decided to look in every shop I walked past that I knew that sold DVDs, so I looked in 3 different HMVs, no sign of it, I tried in 2 Zavvi stores, still no sign of it, I looked in 5 Woolworths, also no sign of it, at a last attempt I looked in 4 WH Smith stores, and guess what there was still no sign of it, I spent about 2 hours searching for it and to find out that there wasn't one single DVD called Interview with the Vampire on a shelf.
So instead I bought Disturbia... Then a friend called Matthew asked for Disturbia, I said ok if only you give me one of your DVDs to borrow... So he gave me a choice: The Lion King Interview With The Vampire Silence of the lambs Se7en
I Was dead after Silence of the lambs so I asked for it but he started laughing telling me I couldn't borrow it because he hadn't got it, so I was about to ask for Se7en but then decided this could have been a trick as well due to the fact that he listed it after silence of the lambs, so I decided to choose Interview with The Vampire. He told me that it was a good choice.
When we had swapped, I became aware of the certification
which was 18. Now what I had expected of it was a really scary film that could make you jump every single second, I expected scariness and a chance at getting Goosebumps. What I didn't expect of it came out.
CHARACTERS: Louis de Pointe du Lac (Played By Brad Pitt) - Louis seems to me as a normal Human and when he turns into a vampire he doesn't feel like killing people due to the fact that it makes him a Murderer.
Lestat De Lioncourt (Played by Tom Cruise) - He is a blood-sucking vampire, who makes Louis into a vampire, he gives Louis a vampire child also called Claudia
Claudia (Played By Kirsten Dunst) - She is a child, she loves Louis like a dad and Louis loved her back, she is set out to find the other vampires as she and Louis feels alone. Little does she know that something bad is upon her.
Santiago (Played by Stephen Rea) - Louis comes in contact with this vampire while walking under a bridge in Paris. He is the fastest Vampire in the film and he is evil, you work this out as Claudia and Louis' adventure in Paris is being told.
Armand (Played by Antonio Banderas) - At first we think he is evil and much like Santiago but as the story get told we understand that he is the master of Santiago and of the others (Santiago's friends) and then we discover that Armand isn't evil and we learn that looks can be perceiving
Daniel Malloy (Played by Christian Slater) - we see him at the start and he is interviewing Louis, he is questioning Louis about he's story and Louis tells him he's story and this is when we see all the other characters, the narrator being Louis
Remember this film was made in 1994… Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt has long hair, Tom has blond hair and Brad has brown hair. Kirsten Dunst is a young girl. You might have heard of Kirsten Dunst, she plays Mary Jane in Spiderman
THE STORY Well the special edition DVD starts off with a introduction from 3 people, the director: Neil Jordan, The Writer: Anne Rice (Based on her book) and the Producer: Stephen Wooley. These people makes us understand a bit about what's going to happen in the story, it makes us question about the things they say and leaves us in suspense until the film starts. Anne says she wanted to capture the emotion and the sadness from Louis and she also says the Brad Pitt makes this come out just the way she wanted it.
At the start we follow Louis about and notice Lestat is watching him, Louis is then attacked and Lestat sucks blood from him, then they are seen in this garden and Louis has a choice that Lestat has never given anyone to live as a vampire or to die, Louis chooses to live. Lestat cuts just below his wrist and drops the blood into Louis mouth, Louis then goes up to Lestat's arm and starts sucking the blood, Lestat pulls his arm away and they both are in pain, Louis is wobbling about and it is shown as if he is transforming into a beast.
Then further on in the film Louis is so hungry for human blood due to the fact that he had been drinking blood from rats that he sucks blood from a child. Then Lestat finds him and gets angry, and Louis hates himself for killing a child. But then Lestat does something really kind and transforms the girl into a vampire also. The girl grows up a few years, he hair turns long and curly and she stays that same age for the entire whole of her life.
She has 2 dads Lestat and Louis, but Lestat considers her as a student and Louis considers her as his daughter. At one time she gets really angry at Lestat and she cuts all her hair off. She storms into her bedroom and screams when she looks into the mirror, she storms out of her bedroom angry at Lestat, we see her and all her hair has grown back in a few seconds.
I mustn't tell you anymore I'll get too involved and tell you too much. I really was expecting this to be very scary but at times it's funny, only once did it make me jump, it made me upset as you neared the end, it was scary at parts, but it has an economical twist at the end, a twist you mustn't miss, I RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERYONE!
Reason's why it's an 18: Bad Language: Some, Mild Sex/Nudity: Some, Moderate Violence: Some, Strong, Bloody Other: NONE
