I had this box set bought for me as a present; I've seen it lots of times nonstop, Indiana Jones is a classic that most people will remember for years to come.
This review will try to explain as much detail as needed without going in any boring sense facts as the name itself explains it's a "classic Box set"
Display Box. I was very impressed by the make up the casing its well designed and rigidity...doesn't feel like it's going fall apart easily after a few weeks like most box sets I've found out do...surprisingly the DVDs fit in nice and snug so when you go pick it up they don't all come flying out. Graphics and colouring is nice too and looks very impresses, look great in any collection. Now the important bits....
Menu ... the menus on the each of the films where very impresses ....beautiful animated for each film, one the first time I've actually stayed on the menu to see what would happen. My favourite being the animation for the Temple of doom...start off with a mine cart
ride and then branches into clips from the films...I won't spoil the rest for you.
Picture this is the most important reason people by re-mastered DVD, I've seen this film on TV and other DVDs but this blows them all away. Watching this on my HDTV everything looks outstanding. I'd say almost like they had Re-filmed with HD Cameras. Someone has clearly taken the time to clean up every single aspect of this film and its outstanding... just pause it randomly on scenes and you'll see what I mean.
Sound Details on the cases says that its remastered by Dolby Digital 5.1 ....I currently don't have a 5.1 speaker system hooked up on to my TV so couldn't really comment on that. But still was very impressed. I seemed to getting the action sense more as the music and the sound of engines and boulders rolling gave you feeling of being right in the action yourself.
Bonus Features I was even deeply impressed by this has everything ....explaining the most recognizable stunts seen in the film, CGI wasn't used during the time of this film and you WILL be impressed how some the stunts where made, hands up to the Stunt Doubles in this film. Stunts explained in great detail.from thought to progress to complete. Also you get more in depth information of the making of the Indiana Jones, which is almost a film its self being about 130mintues long included interviews with Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and a few more who started I the film...just listed the important ones..
Not only that you get a good few minutes explaining the sounds effects and music used in the film. This may interest some people more than others.
Quick rundown of the films and what I thought
Raiders of the Lost Ark Indy starts on the hunt for lost artefacts in the jungles of South America where he ultimately ends up losing the artefact to his big rival. He going back home, then finds out that the Nazi's are involved in searching for the lost arch. So he sets out to find it before they do. So the adventure starts. Truly a classic film and have you glued to it however many times you watch it.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom having to follow such a classic as the lost ark you either think this is going be a big let down or a amazing film.i dont think its either really it was a good leveler...still has all the action and excitment with a bit of dull story line, i must say that chinesse boy Short Round played by Jonathan Ke Quan really added some hurmor to the film, watching it myself as a kid i always wanted to be that young going on such a great adventure
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade With the let down of the 2nd film of the series and knowing this is the finial and last film. I hoped it would always go out with a bang you know like that final film of the god father series, staring off with sense of a younger fitter leaner Indy was a good touch, and having Sean Connery playing his father was a master stroke. Being such a well known and respected actor and appealing more the British people. This story follows Indy on a search of the holy grail.which is said his father has a diary which leads there...return of the nazi who also wish to find the grail....the chase begings....this has everything in this film...tanks,fights. Exploding....a little romance for the ladies...having some amazing special effects.....this is on par if not better then the first...truly a great bow out of the trilogy.
Overall this is a great and must buy ....hours of endless enjoyment you'll watch again and again....CLASSIC
