As a child I watched "Raiders of the lost ark", and fell in love with Harrison Ford, and the whole concept. The joy, as I got older, of more films in the was unending and I even went as far as having posters on my wall of the "Temple of Doom" flm and cast!!! Anyway...... This boxed set is the culmination of so many years and so many special effects that it bursting.
Each film has been through an exacting remastering process and with its posh new Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, can now live up to the claim that it "almost surpasses the cinema experience...in your own home". But the fun doesn't stop when the films are over - because Paramount and Lucasfilm have teamed up to create a spectacular bonus disc loaded with special features produced especially for this DVD collection. It includes newly produced, exclusive documentaries that explore the making of these memorable films, including brand-new interviews with the cast and crew - including Spielberg,
Ford and Lucas - plus scores of other surprises from all three films. And lets face it, can we cope with anymore surprises?
All three of the films are subtittled in English, French and Spanis (close-captioned) to assist in accesability.
Brief synopses of the films.
Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost ark - PG 115 mins.
Spring 1936. In the thick jungle of the South American continent, a renowned archeologist and expert on the occult is studying fragments of a map, when one of his exploration party pulls a gun. The archeologist pulls out a bullwhip and with such disarms the turncoat, sending him running - thus does Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones stay alive. He and a guide enter a dank and oppressively vast cave that contains several traps created by the ancient race which hid inside a famous handheld statue; Indy barely escapes such traps but is cornered by native tribesmen served by Belloq, an old enemy who arrogantly makes off with the statue, while Indy must flee for his life and escape on a friend's seaplane. Back in the US two agents from US Army intelligence tell him of Nazi German activities in archeology, including a gigantic excavation site in Egypt - a site that an intercepted cable indicates to Indy is the location of the Ark of the Covenant, the powerful chest bearing the Ten Commandments, that the Nazis can use to obliterate any enemy. Indy must recruit a former girlfriend (the daughter of his old professor) and an old chum in Cairo to infiltrate the Nazi site and make off with the Ark, but along the way Indy gets involved in a series of fights, chases, and traps, before the Nazis learn the full power of the Ark
Indiana Jones and the temple of doom - PG 118 mins
Set in 1935, a professor, archaeologist, and legendary hero by the name of Indiana Jones is back in action in his newest adventure. But this time he teams up with a night club singer named Wilhelmina "Willie" Scott and a twelve-year-old boy named Short Round. They end up in an Indian small distressed village, where the people believe that evil spirits have taken all their children away after a sacred precious stone was stolen! They also discovered the great mysterious terror surrounding a booby-trapped temple known as the Temple of Doom! Thuggee is beginning to attempt to rise once more, believing that with the power of all five Sankara stones they can rule the world! Now, it's all up to Indiana to put an end to the Thuggee campaign, rescue the lost children, win the girl and conquer the Temple of Doom.
Indiana Jones and the last crusade - 12A 126 mins
Indiana Jones returns again, and again this time, to save the world from the Nazis. In this film, the Nazis have kidnapped Indy's father, Professor Henry Jones, for his diary, which contains maps and first-hand accounts of many of the world's most sacred and hidden items. One of these such items, the Holy Grail, is what the Nazis are after, and is the reason they had kidnapped Prof. Jones and his diary. Indy must then make his way directly into the "lion's den" - Nazi Germany - in order to save his father, his diary, and the Holy Grail - all from the Nazis.
LONG LIVE INDIANA JONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets hope the long toted last film in the sequel can live up to its predecessors.
