tale of a family of superheroes (picture a flabby, suburbanized Fantastic Four) forced out of retirement by--what else?--an evil genius and his plot for world domination. Director Brad Bird, whoseIron Giantwas one of the 90's most sublime, if underappreciated animated triumphs, decided he wanted his Incredibles score to be a throwback to the spy-action genre of the mid-60's. Enter Michael Giacchino, the young composer who'd previously conjured a marvellously eclectic range of musical styles in service of TV'sAlias. In his feature film debut, Giacchino (with a key assist from veteran arranger Jack Hayes) ups the ante of Bird's back-to-the-future spy-score gambit with an orchestral jazz soundtrack powered by the brash rhythms of television'sMannixand Man From U.N.C.L.E.beneath a veneer of melodic intrigue and detached elegance that recalls the prime of John Barry's James Bond oeuvre. Advantages: Fantastic animation; good story Disadvantages: None
After a whole load of hype, advertising and excitement, The Incredible’s has finally hit the big screen. It has been a long time in the making and I for one was really quite excited about this latest offering from Pixar. After having relatively little to do one Sunday afternoon I decided to take advantage of the advanced screenings and go see this film. ** Background **
The Incredibles is the latest offering from Disney Pixar Animation Studios, ... ...Finding Nemo, Toy Story and Monsters Inc. This time Pixar have combined with Brad Bird to make an animated film about The Incredibles. Bird has written, directed and even voiced this latest film, which seems sure to be a box office smash. Brad Bird has previously been involved with both the “The Simpsons” and “King of the Hill”.
** Storyline **
A superhero’s work is never done. Well this time it appears that it is. Superheros are busy going about ...

Advantages: It's a fantastic all round joy to watch that will appeal to young and old Disadvantages: No extra gags after the end credits
After a series of lawsuits are filed against superheroes they are all forced to go into a witness protection programme and live ordinary lives. Mr Incredible and his wife Elastigirl are just two of these unfortunates, posing as the unassuming Parrs; forced to live in suburbia, doing frustratingly meaningless jobs and raising their super-powered kids as best they can. But Mr Incredible can’t let go of the past and is itching to get back into his super-suit ... ...is a good one. The characters are introduced through a series of old-fashioned talking heads, during their glory days. Mr Incredible is top of the tree, the so-cool-he’s-freezing Frozone is the cool dude on the block and Elastigirl is a forthright super-heroine who can stretch, bend and twist better than any yoga instructor. So you know how difficult life is for them when they are forced to suppress their powers and live in suburban normality. The ...

First of all I would like to state that The Incredibles has never been at the top, or anywhere else, of my list of "must see" films but it rained all day on Sunday and small person was bored. We've already "done" Santa's Grotto so were struggling to think of something to entertain him when a trailer advertising The Incredibles popped on to the tv screen. Of course there was no quietening him now and he begged, pleaded and whined to be taken to see ... ...up all hopes of watching footie and agreed to take him, provided I came too. My cunning plan was to sneak in to a different showing when we got there, but I was foiled when husband bought the tickets, all for the film in question. We had an embarrassing few moments, when he stood there, looking gormless after being given his change from a £20 note and waiting for the rest, whilst the cashier gently told him that that was all he was getting and yes, ...

Advantages: Funny, clever, imaginative, entertaining Disadvantages: Umm...it's not free? Not much else
I’m a fan of Pixar’s films, and the Dreamworks ones too. Ever since Toy Story pioneered the feature-length computer-animated format, I’ve been hooked.
<A short history of the genre>
I was sceptical about Toy Story. It’d be a kids film, with graphics and animation that’d just about pass as acceptable for kids – but be inadequate for my own discerning eye.
Boy, was I in for a shock. Pixar were smart enough to know that the quality of the animation ... ...that, too. Lighting, storyline, humour, characters, music – everything just gelled beautifully, and they created a very funny film for kids and adults alike, that could stand watching again and again.
From that point onwards, every film, from either Pixar or Dreamworks, has added a little more to the genre. The characters have been developed further. The concepts have become both more clever, and better executed. And the animation has become eye-poppingly ...

Advantages: Excellent Story Disadvantages: Minor characters Steal It
...Released in 2004 the incredibles is one of Pixar's latest offerings and is further proof of the ever growing animated band wagon. In a time of big budget explosions and CGI if you're going to get a computer to generate something unbelievable, why not make it obvious that your tongue is in your cheek?
The Incredibles is a clever and well written story. It follows the story of two superheros who marry in secret and start a family (Mr. Incredible and Elastogirl). At the height of their fame and influence Mr Increible is sued by someone he saved, who apparently didn't want saving (a very funny take on today's blame culture). This law suit breaks him and more follow towards other superheros. In the end they are forced underground and have to agree to never be supers again.
We forward 15 years and Mr. Incredible is at a very low ebb...

Advantages: Great film for kids and adults alike Disadvantages: None I can think of
...*Top secret files on all the supers
*Behind the scenes "Making of the Incredibles"
and much more..
The other stuff..
Released in 2004 by Disney Pixar. Written and directed by Brad Bird. Won two Oscars.
Rated U - contains mild action violence and peril
Running time - 111 mins approx
Verdict
This is an excellent animated film, with great graphics, and something for the whole family to enjoy. It has some of those adult jokes (such as in Shrek) cleverly inlaid that the kids won't pick up on, but that makes it entertaining for adults too.
