Advantages: Superb performance by Jamie Foxx Disadvantages: Long and dull at times
...and his music, and that is a good thing. However, much of the film was dull and monotonous and I really struggled at times not to turn it off. I am so glad that I didn't see it in the cinema - at two and a half hours it really is way too long and although I can imagine that the director wanted to do justice by Ray's life, he did so to the detriment of audience pleasure. I recommend this film if you are interested inRay Charles and his music, or simply want to appreciate Jamie Foxx's fine acting; otherwise, I think you may find the film too tedious unless split up into manageable chunks. Just about recommended.
The DVD is available from play.com for £5.99, but I picked mine up in Asda for just £2.
Classification: 15
Running time: 152 minutes (or a whopping 178 minutes for the extended version)...

Advantages: Stays close to reality, Jamie Foxx's amazing performance, music is brilliant, overall great Disadvantages: You might want to take a break in the middle to prevent numb-bum syndrome.
...What'd I say? (That's right I'm cracking out the puns) I say it's an extrordinary film about the genius of Ray Charles, the musician and his life - from growing up in a poor area in Florida and slowly turning blind, to becoming one of the worlds greatest musicians. This film features excellent acting by all involved, the classic Ray Charles hits, which punctuate the performance well and a tragic but ultimately uplifting story of a man who is truly iconic.
The DVD
The film itself is 146 minutes long and is rated a 15 certificate. I'd say this is pretty fair due to the harrowing scenes involving Ray's heroin use and subsequently getting clean. Although, for a modern young audience I wouldn't say that any of the material was shocking or traumatic.
You can buy Ray on DVD from online retailers such as Play and Amazon...

Advantages: Great Sound and Picture Disadvantages: Bulky
...Last week I visited sony's show case just to check this product out and have major regrets in buy this product.
The Design:
The design is really silly, it is a bulky equipment, it does not look like a disk player it look more like a security monitoring device, or a really cheap ampilfier. I would advise you to get a PS3 due to the fact that my brothers PS3 Had all the same features and you can play games.
The Picture and Sound:
This is the best sony blue rayDVD player that has grandest sound and picture quality compared to the other sony blue raydvd players. This is the best reason to purchase this product if you don't mind the bulky look of this product.
Cons:
The set up menu is always on and on the sony website changes the product description several times so far....
