Advantages: Great Storylines, Acting, Darkly Amusing Disadvantages: None
...scripted and acted. It also has a lot of great dark humour and you’ll often find characters lapsing into dream sequences and impromptu dance numbers. It also opens with some majestic opening titles and a great theme tune. I only caught up with the first season on DVD after Channel 4 fantastically banded the first season around a few different time slots. I didn’t see the second season due to Channel 4 making the genius decision of scheduling it midway through the second season of 24. Needless to say after watching this series I’ll be getting future seasons when they arrive on DVD.
The first season comes in a 4-disc set contained in a digipack. The outer packaging is an attractive cardboard case that is more than sturdy, it’s also attractive.
Each episode is presented in its original 1.33:1 aspect ratio. The transfer is excellent and superior...

Advantages: Multi Regions, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, PCM Stereo, Lyrics, fullscreen, 165 minutes. Disadvantages: Their Last Concert With Tim Booth Fronting.
...with his character & adds to the visual enjoyment here.
Of course you have to know the rest of the band are important also, they are all fine musicians. During the concert we are treated to the guest appearances of former band members. It's great! Little niggles, little bites, little moments of genius make this a classic live performance, expressed to it's fullest, displayed on this wonderful DVD media.
To me, if a band / artist can perform so admirably live, then they are truly great musicians. This is / has been / will be, one of those elite few. As you can probably tell, I am a lover of live DVD music!
James perform at their best live, better I think than studio recordings. Perhaps it's the rawness of the live concerts. Or maybe it's their "impromptu" behaviour.
If you know James, but have never seen them live, this is definitely for you...

Plot: Two lovers, female author George Sand and composer Frederic Chopin, are drawn together by an unnerving bond despite the efforts of those who would have them part company.
DVD Description
An exploration of the relationship between female writer George Sand and composer Frederic Chopin. Sand (Judy Davis) who dresses up as a man, becomes enraptured by Chopin (Hugh Grant). Life becomes rather amusing when Sand shows up as an unexpected party guest at the royal mansion of the Baron and Baroness d'Antan. Here she encounters not only Chopin and friends Liszt and Delacroix, but lover Felicien Mallefille and the man of her dreams, Alfred de Musset.
...Like a few other people I know I was looking forward to Never Back Down. Being a keen fan of mixed martial arts and training in kick boxing I thought this movie would be straight up my street. How painfully, painfully wrong I was.
Sean Ferris plays a high school footballer, named Jake Tyler, with a little too much anger who keeps getting into fights, on and off the field . He is thrown off his team for a hugh brawl but doesnt care as he figures he's leaving school to go across the country soon anyway. The footage hits the internet and soon, once he moves states and starts a new school, he's a local celebrity attracting attention from girls, unpopular kids and the local hard man, rich kid and love rival Ryan McCarthy.
After being invited to McCarthys parents mansion for a party he is challenged to a impromptu fight, in which he lose...

Advantages: Some great gags Disadvantages: Comparitively dissapointing
...sees Richie and Eddie appear in an empty set where the storyline completely goes out the window.
It seems that Rik and Ade just came to a halt in the ideas department which is a shame when you consider the writing talent these two possess.
There are some good points that deserve to be discussed. The gags are still up to a good level and you will find yourself laughing many a time. The impromptu antics when Rik and Ade play off of each other or the audience have always been highlights of the live shows and they are still in this case.
However, the cheap swipes at other celebrities and weak links to current events are in vain, as the show drags on, and at only 85 minutes long that is an achievement.
Bottom itself is loved and hated in equal measures and i am sure you will know which side you are on. So to all those who love Bottom, i urge...

Advantages: A very different kind of humour Disadvantages: A very different kind of humour
...loud at the unexpected punchlines and well-spoken one-liners. in my opinion Jimmy's real strength is his ability to interact and relate to his audience, and it shows the mind of a true comic genius that can provide witty replies to pretty much everything that is thrown at him by impromptu actions of the audience.
Its hard to classify Carr or relate him to other comedians, but I would say he's a mixture of Lee Evans and Roy Chubby Brown, but with less swearing and delivered from that posh friend that we all have.
The DVDs an 18 rated largely due to the coarse language and the blatant disregard for political correctness in some of his jokes. People who are offended by such material would be ill-advised to purchase this.
The extras available on this DVD are plentiful, if a little repetitive at times, but if you enjoyed Carr in the main piece...
