...see how her experiences are knitted into her songs and the same with Ike’s.
The film is certified as an 18, as it is very violent and contains some very strong language. It does also contain sex and nudity but it is mild and infrequent.
This would be a perfect buy for someone who is a fan of Tina Turner first of all but also for those who like true stories. It costs around £15.99 on DVD and about £11.99 on video and I bought my copy from HMV but I’m sure it is available at most high street stores. It doesn’t have any extras or special features, which would have been excellent for behind the scenes and for information on dealing with a real life issue....

...This is a really touching movie and the true life story of Tina Turner. It shows her humble begins her rocky marriage to Ike and her strugle to make it alone.
The acting was outstanding and the film features some of Tinas very best hits which makes it good to watch.
The film shows her devotion to her family, how hard she worked to get where she is today and the tyranny of her marriage to Ike.
It is very touching especially her love for her children and sisters, moving such as when she is trying to escape with her children and at times slightly distressing especially the beatings and the rape scene, but in the end it is uplifting tale seeing her rise from adversity. Excellent....

BB King brilliantly fills the camera with his sweaty and robust performance where he truly gives it all. And the mellowed out, kaleidoscopic Jazz music is unendingly sastisfying and infectiously danceable.
Then we get the JFK Stadium performance of the legendary crooner Teddy Pendergrass, he is wheelchair bound but sincerely dedicated and moved by the concert, and gives a truly soothing performance of "Reach Out and Touch" which could qualify as the most heart on sleeve, beautiful moment of the collection.
Then we get the untransmitted performance of Rap act Run-DMC at the concert. DJ Jam Master Jay introduces with some superb scratching and flipbacks...
