The Film:
The film opens up with a very bright scene and all you can see is ice everywhere and if you look hard enough you can see small imprints in the ice on one cliff. The next moment you see what has been making those prints as you see friendly squirrel Scrat. As fans of the first will know is Scrat loves his acorns and in this film he is still chasing and trying to protect his beloved acorn. Within literally a couple of moments we see him get himself into about five compromising positions and at the end of his adventure we are shown that the ice is in fact melting. And so Ice Age 2 the Meltdown begins.
Sid, Manny and Diego are still together in a little group and at first they are angry that everybody is being told that the ice is melting but soon they discover for themselves that this fact is in fact true. All the animals are inside what looks like an ice bowl as there are cliffs all sides so the panic sets in that they may drown. A vulture flies down and tells them that there is a boat a short walk away and that they should head there to get onto higher ground so off they all go.
On the way Manny the Mammoth believing he is the last of his species meets another Mammoth who believes she is a possum and that she has two brothers who are also possums. The two possums provide the gang with a bit of mischief and then throw into the mix some hungry singing vultures, two very big and dangerous sea creatures and then a frustrated squirrel and you have a very funny film.
Verdict on the story:
Honestly the story of this film is fantastic and it is great because it does follow on from the first one. I remember watching the first thinking well all of this ice will have to melt at some point so it is great that they have had the theme of the ice melting for the second one.
With the story they have the right mix of everything so you feel like they have made the most they can out of the story. It is romantic, dramatic, funny and a bit scary at parts so you watch it with eyes that just do not want to look away. The script makers are very clever as like other films of the genre such as Shrek and the Incredibles there are jokes in there that children will love but also that adults will get so there is something for everybody.
The way the story pans out is fantastic as although it may be a little predictable you do have to remember that it is for children too and that they have to be able to understand it. There is enough going on to keep most people entertained in my opinion and I think that it is one film that the entire story is sweet, fun and just 100% crazy.

Cast and Characters:
Ray Romano - Manny John Leguizamo - Sid Denis Leary - Diego Josh Peck - Eddie Queen Latifah - Ellie Sean William Scott - Crash Chris Wedge - Scrat
Verdict on the Cast and Characters:
The reason I love the entire cast that have been chosen to do this film is because they are all so believable in their roles. I cannot stand it when you are watching an animated film and all you can think about it is whose voice it is and what they look like in real life but you don't in this one. Each actor's voice is strong and that makes the characters great.
The actual characters are fantastic and are the most memorable out of any film I have seen. Scrat reigns as my favourite even though he does not particularly mean anything to the film but he is so mad that you just remember him. All of the characters are great though and I just fall in love with them while I am watching the film. You really care about them and you get back stories and get to know what they are thinking so it is fantastic.

Things to know:
Runtime - 91 minutes Certificate - U so suitable for all.
-----
Verdict:
I cannot say or think of anything bad about this film because everything about it is amazing from the story to the characters and then to the actual animation itself. There is something to keep everybody entertained and it is one of those films that is just so wonderful that you wish the film would just continue so you can see more of what happens.
The animation in this film is fantastic and you soon forget that you are actually watching a cartoon as it all looks so believable. I know some people who just cannot get into cartoons but I think they are great and this one has animation to rival most others. The actual animals look brilliant and Manny the mammoth looks so furry that you just want to give him a cuddle.
When I say laugh out loud funny I really mean that this film is laugh out loud funny and I had to stop myself in the cinema because I think people would have got annoyed with me. Some of the jokes you do have to listen out for but many are so obvious which usually I get annoyed about but I just love them in this film.
I think my favourite part of the film is the same as the first one and that is whenever Scrat appears as he is so funny and in my opinion is the best character even though he actually does not have any point in the film. Also the banter between the mammoths Manny and Ellie is hilarious and worth watching for alone and then the addition of the two naughty possums
This is the kind of film that you have to watch every minute because there is something happening and I just did not want to miss one moment of it. At one point I was getting so annoyed because some children were talking about the film and I was just wishing I could shush them. I know it may be seen as a kids film but believe me that it is for everyone and if I could give you some advice if you do not have children then it would be to go quite late at night so you can catch a showing without kids. I love kids but I can't hear very well so I find it hard enough at cinemas anyway so please don't think I just hate kids.
One thing I will say is that I do think it is a good idea to watch the first film before this one as you get to know the characters a little more. Also it helps if you have watched the first as you will know what to expect. If you did enjoy the first then you will like this sequel as it is the same sort of humour.
In conclusion I have absolutely no hesitation in giving this film five stars because it is hilarious and the characters are so great that they make you want to watch the film again and again. I think if you are after a friendly film with a lot of laughs and characters that are so warm and memorable then this film is for you and the bonus is that it is fun for all ages so everybody will have a good time.
Advantages: A great family film with plenty of giggles for all. Disadvantages: None!

This sequel to Ice Age sees the return of Manny the Mammoth, Sid the Sloth, and Diego the Sabre tooth Tiger, as well as the brilliantly funny antics of Scrat who had the entire audience in the cinema in hysterics. Add to this a few new characters, two little possums, Eddie and Crash, and a female mammoth who thinks she is a possum, Ellie. The story

...FILM-ONLY REVIEW
------------------------------------------
Ice Age 2: Meltdown is the follow up to the highly successful Ice Age, an animated movie made in 2002 and one of my all-time favourite animated movies. Unlike the previous movie, Meltdown concentrates solely on the animals - not a human in sight - as they come to terms with impending disaster with their icy world about to melt from under their feet. Once again the main characters are Manny ... ...profit. With the ice melting there is only one hope for the animals - a boat rumoured to be at the far end of their little world. Can they get to it in time? Is Manny really the last of the mammoths? Will Sid ever get the respect he craves - or will he get eaten by someone he's annoyed? Ice Age 2: Meltdown has many things going for it - the storyline is completely separate from the first Ice Age, so it doesn't really feel like a sequel / continuation ...

...all behind the valley, the ice is melting. (All taking the jump/slide at the same time.)
After this, its a race against time, to a possible hope of a boat at the other end of the valley - their only chance of surviving all the water beyond rushing in, and filling their home to the brim.
Along the way, the trio meet another Mammoth - much to Mannys delight, as many people seem to think hes the last Mammoth.
However, this mammoth, Ellie, is convinced ... ...| Taglines |:

Advantages: New character, more fun with Scrat Disadvantages: Not as funny as the first film
Well, how pleased was I to find that on our in-flight entertainment, the movies available included not just one, or two, but three IceAge films! I love to watch things in sequence, so of course this was next on my list. By now we were flying from Doha to Jo?Burg, and to be honest after 6 hours plodding around in 30 degree heat, I was a bit tired. I really enjoyed the first film and was determined to see the second two. Sadly due to my tiredness I only just managed this one. Even then I had to keep replaying it! If you?ve not seen the first film yet, I?d strongly recommend you do before reading this review, because this one would be a spoiler of that film from the start and that I cannot help.

Advantages: Great fun! Disadvantages: Extreme laughter causes frequent bathroom breaks
Diego the cynical saber-tooth tiger, Manny the urbane mammoth and Sid, the most annoyingly cheerful sloth ever, return in this prehistoric sequel. The IceAge is over, and just when everyone is beginning to have a really good time, they realize that this is bad news for everyone in the valley. Everything is melting, and if they can't get to a safely situated area before the glacial dam bursts, everyone's lives will be destroyed by the Meltdown!
Manny (Ray Romano) is the only mammoth any of these creatures have ever seen, and parents pause in the great exodus to point him out to their kids. "Say buddy, not to cast aspersions on your survival instincts or nothin' but haven't mammoths pretty much gone extinct?" Sid's (John Leguizamo ) many misguided attempts to help Manny feel better about going extinct, and amuse himself during ...
