road to international stardom. Sellers played both Sir John Kennaway, and unforgettably, the Bolshy trade union leader Fred Kite (he would go on to take three roles in Dr Strangelove and featured endless disguises in The Pink Panther in 1963) series. The result is laugh-out-loud comedy with a satiric edge, lampooning the then burning issue of industrial relations. Bertram Tracepurcel's (Dennis Price) plans to make a fortune from a missile contract, a scheme which involves manipulating his innocent nephew Stanley Windrush (Ian Carmichael) into acting as the catalyst in an escalating labour dispute, from which the socialist Mr Kite is only too keen to make capital. Management and labour both have their self-serving hypocrisy dissected in this ingenious comedy, actually a sequel to the military comedy Private's Progress (1956), but which stands independent of the earlier film. Both films were made by the brothers John and Roy Boulting, director and producer of such British classics as Brighton Rock (1947), Seven Days to Noon (1950), Carlton-Browne of the F.O. (1959) and Heaven's Above (1963). The superb cast of I'm All Right Jack also features Richard Attenborough, John Le Mesurier, Margaret Rutherford and Terry Thomas. --Gary S. Dalkin

DVD Description
Though it may be distinguished by its virtuosic comedic performances from Terry-Thomas and Peter Sellers, I'M ALL RIGHT, JACK, John Boulting's sly satire of class struggle, is a comic gem in its own right. The film stars Ian Carmichael as Stanley Windrush, a recent Oxford graduate and old money aristocrat who decides to work for a living. Deciding to keep his background a secret, Stanley takes a menial position at his uncle's armaments factory, where his incompetence arouses the suspicion of his fellow labourers and the sympathy of the loony Works Committee boss (Sellers). Soon, the good-hearted Stanley finds himself in the middle of the complex class struggle between management and labour and the pawn in his wicked uncle's crooked scheme. The scenes at Windrush Senior's naturist colony, where Stanley goes for advice, are particularly delightful. I'M ALL RIGHT, JACK is noteworthy for also for winning two BAFTA awards in 1960 for Peter Sellers' performance and for Best British Screenplay.
Advantages: it's a musical Disadvantages: there could be better extras
...to a place called christmas town, a wonderful magical place of the kind that Jack has never known and is intrigued with its mystical enchantment. In true Jack style he sings his feelings out. Meanwhile back at halloween town terror as struck as all the people of halloween town are simply lost without Jack.
Jack returns and sets a path so that christmas can be theirs......
I'll leave the rest for you to watch so i dont reck the ending.
The Nightmare Before Christmas in my opinion is a masterpiece and is in true Tim Burton surrealism style backed up with the amazing score and songs by Danny Elfman takes it to true perfection.
There are extras on the DVD such as the early short feature of Frankenweenie and a short animation on another of Tim Burtons surreal character Vincent Malloy.
There are also posters to look out as another extra on the DVD...

Advantages: Chilling Disadvantages: A bit slow in places
...Fantastic! What a great film. I saw this one night on TV a few years back, and have seen it a few times since. It doesn't get any worse with subsequent viewings either. Jack Nicholson and family agree to live in a hotel over the winter season, just to keep everthing ticking over whilst there are no guests. Jack is a writer, so will use the time to get on with his work. Nobody tells the family about the history of the place. It seems that one of the previous caretakers went mad, killing his wife and chilren, and Jack appears to be following a similar path into madness...
However Jacks son has a power, the power of The Shining...
...All work and no play makes jack a dull boy!...

...new job from the other casino staff and the some of the regular players. The rules of being a Croupier, though, disallow relationships with other casino staff or even basic friendships with the players. If a casino player was to encounter Jack in the street Jack would have to pretend not to recognise them. Alex Kingston [girlie] was rather good as the South African Yani who starts to visit the casino.
Right, that’s it. There are, of course, some twists and adventure in the plot but the film isn’t really plot heavy. It is, in fact, rather plot simple. What makes Croupier as engaging as it really is are the ways the characters grow and develop. The risk is that you can’t relate to anyone at all in the entire film – Jack is especially alien. I certainly found myself relating to Jack though and I’m not all...
