Gather together these ingredients:
1. A mad, indestructible killer. 2. Some kind of killing implement (preferably something that has not been used in any other horror film). Shiny and sharp optional. 3. Four or five teenagers. Two male hunks, two sexy women. These must be stupid. 4. Several back seat characters, easily forgettable. 5. Corny syntax and clichéd quotes. 6. A place where is all happens. 7. Nipples or near nipple (depending on the audience you are aiming at).
Place these in a big tin and shake up, then pour onto baking plate, cook for twenty minutes as gas mark four and voila! You have a slasher movie that is easily forgettable.
And that is just what this is. Very disappointing, seeing as the first one was pretty impressive and one of my faves.
The plot. Do you need to know the plot?
Yes… well, here goes.
Julie James is having problems; she keeps having nightmares about this ugly big fisherman who carries a big hook with which he violently murders people. Not surprising, really, as all her mates were murdered by him last year after they ran him over in their car and disposed of his body without telling anyone.
You see he was not quite dead. Or perhaps he was undead.
Well, after winning a trip to the Bahamas, the killings start again and the rest is quite formula. We witness inventive deaths that have been done a million times before and, quite frankly, done to ‘death.’
But is it all bad? Almost. There are some good moments, some heart racing happenings to keep you watching, but it all ends up very predictable.
Maybe I am getting too old for all this..?
Main cast:
Jennifer Love Hewitt – Julie James Freddie Prinze Jr – Raymond Bronson Brandy Norwood – Karla Wilson Matthew Settle – Will Benson Mekhi Phifer – Tyrell Martin
Look out for Jeffrey Coombs as Joseph Brooks
Directors and Writers:
Directed by Danny Cannon Written by Lois Duncan and Trey Callaway
Overall, this is not too bad for a night in when you want to see a few shocks, but don’t expect anything new.

I don't get this whole postmodernism thing; it's spawned a bunch of boring, predictable films (admittedly with an element of parody) which aren't remotely postmodern, yet claim to be. And it's getting very annoying. Sootica XXX
