Advantages: Great special effects (the robots) and great storyline Disadvantages: None
Set in 2050, I, Robot tells the story of homicide detective Del Spooner (Will Smith) and his all out mission to eradicate robots from the face of the earth. Del Spooner is called to a suspicious death at USR's headquarters. He suspects an unusual robot called Sonny but could a robot really commit murder?
I, Robot is a well made, good quality blockbuster. The opening scene contains many familiar brands, Converse, Audi and Fed-ex, and begins with ... ...the nature of existence, but I, Robot's script subtly touches on slavery, fascism and man/ machine interaction, while still being peppered with recognisable, Smith-flavoured quips and kinetic action set-pieces. The expected money shots don't fail to impress either, with a mid-movie car-tunnel crunch proving particularly pulse-pumping. Now that this film is a couple of years old, you can pick it up for a couple of quid (try eBay) so it is a must buy ...

Advantages: Great special effects and a few superb twists Disadvantages: could have involve more main characters.
Having watched the film I must say it has been a while since I have seen a film that was so well made. The flow of the film between action and storyline abodes well and raises the timeless questions about the ethical considerations of robotic intelligence. As well as providing action the twists in the story keep the film fresh througout and will keep those who like a bit more than action and will smith interested throughout. there is also a certain ...

Advantages: brilliant acting by Will Smith again Disadvantages: none
As with all sci-fi films CGI needs to be used and in this film the quality of CGI was outstanding. The acting by Will Smith was brilliant and so were the supporting actors. This film has a great plot which is keep to throughout with a few twists sneaked in. The action scenes are very good and were used the right amount - to keep you drawn in yet not to lose sight of the story. Because Will Smith was the big actor in the film the camera is mainly ...

Robot ... ...the crime where Lanning was murdered. Spooner takes this action into account and suggests Sonny killed Lanning.
But surely a robot cant violate the three laws of robotics. Right? This is apperently 'impossible', because if robots can break those laws, there's nothing to stop them from taking over the world!
Set in the future 2035 where robots have been created with 3 rules.
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a ...

DVD Description
Loosely based on the novel from Isaac Asimov, I, ROBOT is an action-packed, CGI-laden thrill ride from director Alex Proyas (THE CROW). Set in 2035, Will Smith stars as Chicago law enforcer Detective Del Spooner. Called upon to investigate the mysterious suicide of scientist Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell), Spooner deduces that Lanning didn't kill himself but was, in fact, murdered. Lanning worked for the US Robotics headquarters, where he constructed friendly robots designed to help humans with mundane tasks. Lanning's creations are prevalent all over the city, and have been fully integrated into the culture. They are allegedly programmed not to harm humans, but as Spooner digs deeper, his investigations lead him to a new type of robot that Lanning was working on before his death, and one of these models--the highly charismatic Sonny--becomes the prime suspect in the case. Spooner bears a grudge against robots due to an unfortunate incident, so his case against Sonny is met with shrugs of indifference from colleagues who know his prejudices all too well. Fortunately he meets an ally, and a romantic interest, in Dr. Susan Calvin (Bridget Moynahan), who agrees to help him. As Sonny is cured of his violent tendencies, the other robots amass across the city, working on the assumption that they need to control humanity in order to safeguard its future. Director Proyas unleashes a fearsome arsenal of special effects, while Spooner and Calvin chase the errant robots all over the city. Sonny's facial features and voice are digitally manipulated from the actor Alan Tudyk, lending an unnerving element of humanity to the character. Smith and Moynahan give convincing performances throughout, and as the action races towards a nail-biting conclusion, the message of the movie suggests that technologies built to help mankind could also provide its downfall.
