I, Monster (Amicus Collection) (DVD)

Advantages: part of cinema history
Disadvantages: poorly filmed, very dated now

...This film is set in 1906 with Christopher Lee's character Marlow experimenting with a drug which produces one of three states of the human psyche, in his case resulting in Blake. The film follows his fall from normality and sanity as he loses all sense of morality. Although the film credits Robert Louis Stevenson for writing the story, it changes the main character's names to Dr. Marlowe and Mr. Blake. The film was initially filmed in 3D, then partway through production this was dropped. God knows why they did this, but it makes the film seem very strange in places!. I think that that Lee makes a very memorable Jekyll/Hyde. Lee's portrayal is a more even-tempered character than is sometimes portrayed in these films.. ...Monsters inc was a film produced by Pixar animation studios on February 8, 2002. The film was a massive hit and the fourth film Pixar had created. The film is a computer generated film and is about a place called Monstropolis. This is a place that only monsters live and they generate their power by scaring children and using their screams a source of power. The monsters use doors in a factory that enter children's bedrooms and the monsters then scare the children, make them scream and they then collect the screams in a container to use for power. The monsters believe that children themselves are toxic, and go to great lengths to prevent contact; should a monster be touched by a child or their belongings they need to decontaminated. ...what a fantastic dvd for the whole family, we usually watch dvds on sunday afternoons as family time because we are so busy in the week with work, school and other activities and monsters inc is a great family film for any day of the week.i have three children aged from twenty one months up to nine years and me and my husband watch this with the children or they can watch it by themselves as theres no worrying about something frightening as they are cute lovable characters that you can watch over and over again and not get bored. my children loved the three main characters sully, boo and mike and booed at the mean one randall. the dvd is very reasonably priced and its funny with great graphics and most enjoyable....
