Now before I begin my review, I want to state the reason why I have put this review under this DVD cover. I personally think it is important to review under the exact cover. The DVD I have in front of me is the 2 disc special edition DVD. I very much doubt there is any difference in the films, apart from the fact that this one is a 2 disc special edition.

When my mom first picked it up in HMV, we were starting to become desperate and were needing a 3rd DVD, we had already picked up 2 DVDs and a third DVD will complete the offer which was 3 for £20 (now, however it's 4 for £20). I wasn't too keen to watch this, so every time my mom said we were watching a DVD I always hoped it wasn't this one. I was usually the one who picked what we were going to watch and I made sure we never picked this one. Then it was my mom's turn to pick a DVD and when she picked I Am Legend, I wasn't particularly happy about her choice, and had to watch this DVD because it's part of the house rules.

This film is adapted from the 1957 novel by Richard Matheson. This novel has been made into a film 3 times. It was first adapted in 1964 as "The Last Man on Earth", then in 1971 as "The Omega Man". And then finally in 2007, "I Am Legend"

The director of this film is Francis Lawrence. I don't know what to say about this director. Okay, so I didn't enjoy this film, and didn't expect I would either. But that doesn't make him a bad director; any director who had decided to direct this film couldn't have done it better, and possibly couldn't have done it worse. Francis, I presume, is a really good director and has 3 new films coming up; also he is mostly linked with the music video industry, as he has directed many music videos such as Britney's and Pink's!

Will Smith - Robert Neville
Emma Thompson - Dr. Krippen
Alice Braga - Anna
Charlie Tahan - Ethan
Salli Richardson - Zoe Neville
Abbey and Kona - Sam the Dog
Dash Mihok - Infected Alpha Male
Joanna Numata - Infected Alpha Female
Pat Fraley - President (voice)
Mike Patton - Creature Vocal Effects

Will Smith happens to be the most famous actor out of the whole cast. I have to admit that Will Smith is a great actor, but I don't really know why it is that I do not like him. He appears in lots and lots of films, and he has also made a music career, however I just don't like him, he's a great actor, but I just don't like him. This could possibly be one of the main reasons why I didn't want to watch this film in the first place. However I cannot be sure. Will Smith can be seen in "Men in Black", "Men in Black II", "I, Robot", "Shark Tale" (<--- One I did enjoy watching), "Hitch", "The Pursuit of Happiness", and many, many more, also you can see his albums in CD shops!

The other actors/actresses are not widely known and therefore if you think you recognise any then you may have seen them in one or two other films, but they are not frequently known in lots films.

This film follows Robert Neville, played by Will Smith. Robert is the last man surviving on earth. There are these horrible creatures that are living on earth, and Robert intends to kill them! Only then his dog dies, and he has to find a way of surviving, then he find a family also surviving on earth, and it's up to him, to protect them.

From what I have just written about this film, it sounds incredibly boring, and I have to say that it is, however, I think the book must be a lot better, however I have no clue. I think this film is supposed to make you really tense and make you more and more intrigued watching it, and I do believe that it would work for about 10% of the population on our Earth, however us 90% will gradually fall asleep watching this, and I do remember having to get up and make myself frequent cup of teas in order to make sure that I watch this film so that I could review it.

My favourite character was the dog, you really felt for it. However, the dog died soon, which would be my reaction, I would want to die knowing I'd tried to save the earth, or tried helping, in the dogs case. The dog was really cute, but Stitch and Gizmo is a lot cuter (not sure who Gizmo and Stitch are? Flick through my reviews and you should find them, they are from different films.)

Overall this film is not one of my favourites and I would have to be literally forced to watch it a 2nd time. I seriously don't want to watch this one again, if given the chance!

When my mom first picked this up in HMV, she was really, really surprised by how heavy it is. It must have cost quite a bit of money to make the case as it is completely metal, well not completely metal, only the cover and the rest is plastic inside. I presume the metal weighs down this DVD. I, too, was surprised by how heavy it was.

This DVD, as I have already mentioned, is 2 disc special edition. The first disc is for the DVD player, this shows a few special features and the film, obviously. The second DVD is for the computer or laptop. Slipped into the side is an instructions page on "How to Get Your I AM LEGEND Digital Copy". I have not done this due to the fact that I do not want to store this film onto my computer (Who does?).

Special features are listed below, because I SERIOUSLY didn't want to watch them, and who could blame me, I had just endured 96 minutes of a boring film! Anyway here are the special features:

On Disc One:
-Original Release of Film
-4 awesome animated comics: Death as a Gift, Isolation, Sacrificing the Few for the Many and Shelter

On Disc Two (The Computer/Laptop Disc):
-Never before seen brand new alternative ending
-Cautionary Tale: The Science of I Am Legend: Exploring the History and Current Status of Life Threatening Viral Infections
-Digital Copy of the Film
-DVD-ROM* PC Weblink to Intense Bonus Material Databank

I have to admit the special features also sound really, really boring, but that could be a reason we never ever watch the special features, because the first ones you ever watch happens to be really boring!

I have to say I really do not recommend this film, if you think you'll like it, go for it, but I assure you that most of you will not even watch it all and do what I should have done and fell asleep watching it! I hope this review makes up for yesterday's DVD review, I feel really ashamed of it and will re-write it when I have the time, I'm so sorry! I thank you all for reading and your rating will be very much appreciated, thanks!

I'm sorry for the H, but for this to be a full DVD review, I would prefer to see a review of the extras in the same detail as your review of the film, not just a list of them.
