This movie is suppose to be about the real youth of the ninties; the drug culture. Five best friends, 48 hours and a load of ecstasy pills.
Having watched the movie a number of times now, i still do not completely know what was going on. The film is rather hard to follow as it keeps jumping, like the minds of those that are on drugs. It is a movie I find you have to watch in order to follow it.
The movie is based around a group of 5 friends and their weekend life of sex, drugs and drum 'n' bass. We as the viewers are taken on a ride to see what it is like to be this group of friends. We are shown what they do and think when they are sober, drugged up and on a come down.
Although it is a druggy movie, it is for everyone. It allows people to see what the drug culture of Britain is like and it one of the best drug movie made to make people realise the true affects of drugs. It is hard to follow as when on drugs you do not know what is going on, but if you watch it carefully you are able to understand the feelings and emotions of the characters.
The 5 friends are: Jip, Koop, Nina, LuLu Moff.
This is a movie more for those that take drugs or that have experience drugs before, as you are then able to understand what the characters are going through and it will make more sense to you. None drug takers can watch this, but may find it hard to follow as they are unable to relate to it.
The movie takes you through the mind of the drug users through the different drugs that they take in the various different location in which they take them in. You are able to see the characters from a sober perspective as well as a drugged up and come down perspective. It shows those people that have never taken drugs before what drugs are like and those that have taken drugs, it makes them realise what they are like when they are on drugs.
You can look forward to quotes such as: LuLu: Take me to a place where the drugs are free, the clubs have no gravity and every shag guarantees and orgasm.
Koop: [Playing a Jungle Record] This could turn Hare Krishna into a Bad Bwoy!
Jip: The weekend has landed. All that exists now is clubs, drugs, pubs and parties. I've got 48 hours off from the world, man. I'm gonna blow steam out my head like a screaming kettle, I'm gonna talk cod shit to strangers all night, I'm gonna lose the plot on the dancefloor. The free radicals inside me are freakin', man! Tonight I'm Jip Travolta, I'm Peter Popper, I'm going to never-never land with my chosen family, man. We're gonna get more spaced out than Neil Armstrong ever did, anything could happen tonight, you know? This could be the best night of my life. I've got 73 quid in my back burner - I'm gonna wax the lot, man! The Milky Bars are on me! Yeah!
