Advantages: Thought provoking, quirky Disadvantages: Not as funny as its made out to be
...Recently purchased this DVD and decided to write a review, although it was released a good few years ago.
I Heart Huckabees is not at all what I expected it to be, although I did still enjoy it. Personally, i dont remember much advertising for the film when it was released in 2004, but from the DVD cover and summary I thought it would be a light-hearted comedy, similar to a "chick-flick",.
The plot revolves around a man named Albert, a nature lover who is trying to stop the development of another chain store opening named Huckabees. After seeing the same stranger, a tall African man, seemingly by "coincidence", three times in different locations, he seeks the help of two "existential detectives" to help make sense of these coincidences. Advantages: Beautifully made document of beautiful-art-in-the-making. Disadvantages: Maybe a bit much for non-fans.
...As Bands-In-Crisis documentaries go, Sam Jones' 2002 film focusing on Wilco at the most turbulent and creatively-fertile period in their career thus far is much closer to Micahel Lindsey-Hogg's 1970 Let It Be than, for example, Berlinger & Sinofsky's 2004 Some Kind Of Monster. The picture...

Advantages: Grim atmosphere adds to the plot Disadvantages: Stays with you for ages

local college, most of the group of students opted to watch
Angel Heart out of a list of a dozen or so movies. I groaned
and eagerly anticipated the drive home. Now I know what I
missed the first time around.
Angel Heart is a dark tale of mystery, suspense, voodoo,
murder and a trail so convoluted even an Indian tracker would
have difficulty following.
It is quite scary but not in the "grab you by the throat and
terrify the wits out of you" kind but more in the head where
it nags away at you, although there is mayhem and gore.
Mickey Rouke plays the part of Harry Angel a private eye who
is hired by...
