When a slight bit of nudity is the highlight of a whole film, you know it's dire. I recognised Jason Marsden from Eerie, Indiana (and yes, he still looked like Dash X) and Julie Strain (From US TV's Sex Court) before anyone even introduced her. I recognised Clea Duvall's Boyfriend from "That 70's Show" and I figured that I'd seen Hardcore possibly as a wrestler - he was Big Sky in WCW and also Sabretooth in X-men.
This is the story of a computer games firm who have decided to create the ulitmate monster for their game, its doesn't sound very interesting does it? Well it does get better, they invite porn star Julie Strain to come in and be laser scanned as a character in the game wearing the actual outfit the character will wear (which If I'm honest leaves nothing to the imagination) so they've obviously never heard of textures maps then. While the firms main machine is working on the monster the building is hit by lightening which brings the monster to life and chaos ensues.
Add to that a really bad subplot about someone trying to steal the 1 and only original master copy of the game and you've got this movie with plenty of killing, gore and very bad science.
The film was incredibly predictable (apart from who'd stolen the back-up disk) and it was pretty obvious Clea Duvall was going to survive. One thing I wasn't sure of, whose head she'd seen when she was thrown down the hole (I assume it was her boyfriend or Hardcore?).
The film isn't brilliant but if you fancy a mindless bit of nudity then give it a look, Clea Duvall manages to hold the whole thing together - Just about.
