Benjamin Barry (Matthew McConaughey) works in advertising and is currently competing against two female co-workers to win a major deal with a diamond company. His co-workers and boss obscurely agree that, if he can find a woman and make her fall in love with him in 10 days, the deal is his. On another side of town, Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson) works for a fashion magazine and has just been given a new story to write on 'how to loose a guy in 10 days'. So she takes it upon herself to find a guy to date and, consequently loose him within the allotted time.
When Ben and Andie end up meeting each other in a bar and begin dating, each has their own reasons - Kate, intent on being the worst girlfriend and ultimately causing Ben to ditch her, while Ben has to be the perfect guy, put up with all her annoyances and get her to fall in love with him. A comical battle between the two ensues, each focusing on completing their own mission.
This is one of my favourite classic rom coms and stars two of my very favourite actors. Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey work absolutely perfectly together. Their chemistry is brilliant and really makes you feel that they are a well-suited couple. So much so that I actually would like them to be together in real life! Hudson is so funny at playing the clingy, whiny and obsessive girlfriend and her actions make you roll your eyes and cringe just imagining how embarrassing it would be if your other half did something similar. McConaughey plays the perfect guy accepting and dealing with all her annoying habits and trying his best to make her fall in love with him. However, behind her back he can't stand the things she does and has to continuously remind himself that he needs to carry on playing Mr Perfect.
I have watched this film so many times and it still never fails to give me lots of laughs and enjoyment. It's not targeted at girls and isn't a girly film as we see the men's side of the story as well. A perfect film for anyone who enjoys any sort of romantic comedy or fans of these two brilliant actors.
