This is a brilliant romantic comedy and one of my all time favourite films.
How to lose a guy in 10 days has a very clever story line whereby a 'how to' girl working for a magazine has the challenge to write an article on how to lose a guy- you guessed it in 10 days. She is challenged to do this afther friend and work mate gets in trouble at work after she's dumped- again by a bloke. It turns out that she did many things which many women do that make men run a mile. So the end result is that Andy- the how to girl has to find a guy and then drive him away in 10 days.
She heads out with friends to meet this poor guy and finally bumps into Ben a guy who works in the advertising industry. Unknown to Andy he has also been given a challenge. Ben has been fighting to lead on a diamond contract. Ben tells his boss that he can make women fall in love with diamonds and him too. After being so cocky his boss agrees that he will give him the deal if he can get a women to fall in love with him before a big party for the owners of the diamonds. If he does not the contract will be given to two women, unknown to Ben these women are aware of Andy's task and choose her as the woman he has to get to fall in love with him.
With both of them trying to find a member of the opisite sex they both belive that they are successfully completing the competing challenges. However, as Andy starts to get more needy and winey towards new boyfriend Ben, he does not run a mile as he has to hang on to this woman to get the big contract. Andy is shocked that this guy has not vanished out of her life and steps her annoyingness up a pace or ten.
I won't give all the details as it will ruin the film but we see Andy getting Ben punched in the face, copying a key for his place and leaving all her girly items around, buying them a dog, naming is manhood something rather feminine and telling his friends, arriving unanounced and interupting a boys poker night, allowing the dog to wee on the games table, throwing tamtrums over absolutely nothing. The most unbelieveable thing is she gets him to go to couples counselling after only a few days of their relationship. The counseller just happens to be her friend (pretending to be a counseller) and completely tears Ben apart.
he puts up with all this though as he wants the contract and I think that somewhere inside he sees the true Andy and a glimmer of hope that she's not truly crazy. Andy can't quite understand why he is putting up with her and clearly quite likes him too.
The part finally arrives, the ten days is up. Did she finally get rid of him or are they truly in love. I fell mean giving all of the story away so i'll let you watch it and see for yourself.
Ben is played by Matthew McConaughty and Andy is played by Kate Hudson. Both play their roles really well. The film is believable, characters likeable and fun. This is a laugh out loud wet yourself film- well it is for me anyway. I haven't yet managed to get my other half to watch this, but I know when I do he'll really enjoy it!
Suitable for males and females over the age of 12, it is light, fun, entertainment with a really good story line.

Sorry for the H, but if this is to be a full DVD review, I would prefer to see a review of the extras in similar detail to the way you've reviewed the film, rather than just a list of them.
