Although this film is quite gory I loved it! It is one of the best horror films I've ever seen. It wasn't greatly scary but an enjoyable chase with a few twists in the plot.

I bought this film for about £14.50 at HMV when it first came out so I'm sure it has been reduced by now.
The special features are good too, they include Gag reels, bloopers and designing of the set etc.
I recommend this film to people who enjoy horror films but not those with a weak stomach.
Advantages: chad michael murray! Disadvantages: paris hilton takes ages to get killed, and she sluts about a bit!

Most of the group are quite shaken but spend the night at the campsite anyway and in the morning they wake to find a dvd camera is missing from the camp and Wade's fan belt has been damaged on his car. Has this been done on purpose?
The group agree to separate while they still have another car. This leaves Carly and Wade head into the nearby town of Ambrose with the help of a scruffy local they meet to try to get a new fan belt, and the remaining group travel to the game and arrange to meet up later.
However after hitting heavy traffic they end up heading back to meet with Carly and Wade.
Once Carly and Wade get to the town of Ambrose they stumble around trying to find help as the local garage is closed and they head into the abandoned House of Wax. After a brief tour around they leave feeling a little uneasy ...
Advantages: Paris Hilton get;s bumped off Disadvantages: Nothing new, No scares, Another lame Dark Castle film
Dark Castle Entertainment was set-up to produce some great horror genre pictures based on horror from the fifties. The men behind such as visionary company are Joel (The Matrix/Lethal Weapon) Silver and Robert (Back To The Future/Roger Rabbit) Zemeckis. Now between them they've produced or directed some good movies. So why is it that all the films they've produced so far under this banner have pretty much sucked or been incredibly under-whelming?
After such MTV-inspired dreck such as 13 Ghosts and Gothika we now get House of Wax. On the DVD the producers come up with the line that it's based on the incredibly fun Vincent Price film of the same name. Well it shares the same name and the idea that some of the waxworks are actually corpses. Apart from that everything in it is from 'Hollywood Horror Movie 101'.

Andre de Toth's remake of MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM is one of the first and best 3-D (stereoscopic) feature films, an alternative technology (like Cinemascope, Cinerama) used by 1950s directors attempting to compete with the new threat of television. Professor Jarrod (Vincent Price) is a devoted wax figure sculptor for his museum in 1910s NYC. When his financial partner, Sidney Wallace (Paul Cavanagh), demands more sensational exhibits to increase profits, Jarrod refuses. The vengeful Wallace torches the museum, leaving Jarrod for dead. Miraculously, Jarrod survives (though his hands and legs are rendered useless) and builds a new House of Wax with help from threatening deaf-mute sculptor, Igor (Charles Bronson). The museum's popular 'Chamber of Horrors' showcases recent crimes like the murder of Wallace, a victim of a cloaked, disfigured killer along with his fiancee, Cathy (Carolyn Jones). When Cathy's friend, Sue (Phyllis Kirk), visits the museum she makes a discovery that leads to the horrifying truth behind the House of Wax. With gasp inducing (and tongue-in-cheek) 3-D scenes like the museum fire, paddleball man and can-can girls, de Toth creates an atmospheric film which stands up as a horror classic in 2-D as well.
