This is a great movie. I watched this at the cinema, then bought it, i have since watched it again with my girlfriend, and then made my parents, brother and my girlfriends sister and her boyfriend.
They all loved it.
Hot Fuzz is a English version of all the american cop films, made with an obvious tongue in cheek style, with an end result of an easy to watch film with laughs all the way through. Whats better is that if you are a fan of the american cop films (which i am) you will get lots of the references.
The plot is basically a great policeman in london (Simon Pegg) gets sent to rural england as 'he is making the rest of the london poloice look bad', so he ends up in Stanford, which is the safest place to live in England! He carries on his london way of policing which results in many arrests, with Detective Angel (Pegg) investigating accidents, beleiving they are more sinister, which all the other police in the town ridicule him for.
I dont want to give the plot away, which is why i have not delved into it in too much detail, as I think that if you watch this film with less information, you will enjoy it more, as the great writing and directing set everything perfectly for laughs, which you will want to watch again and again.
Watch this if you love Wright, Pegg and Frosts previous masterpeice Shaun of the Dead, or just love amercian cop films. I guarentee that if you like comedies, you will love this one. Similarly, if you like this film, go and watch Shaun of the Dead!
I really recommend you sit down with a couple of friends, and watch this film.
Also if you are a collector of DVDs, but the special edition, as the boxset looks great on the shelf, you can get this from play.com for £7.99 including delivery, or £3.99 for the normal DVD
