I think that Simon Pegg is a great comedy actor especially when he is paired with Nick Frost. The two acting friends appear together in the 2007 film, Hot Fuzz. Hot Fuzz is about PC Nicholas... more

Advantages Advantages Brilliant, funny, well acted, great story, modern classic

Disadvantages Disadvantages Plenty of rude words

My, my, here come the Fuzz PC Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is a cut above his contemporaries, his arrest rate is 400% above the London Met Police average and he literally lives his job. One day after a break up with his girlfriend, he is asked by the Met Police top brass to move to become a Sergeant in the sleepy Gloucestershire village of Sandford, as he is making the rest of the Met Police look bad. On first arrival Sandford seems a quiet, quaint little village, famous for regularly winning village of the year competitions. Angel is paired with clueless local cop Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) ... more

Advantages Advantages Hilarious film, very well made and a huge array of extras

Disadvantages Disadvantages Maybe not to everyone's taste in humour

I have to admit that I for one am not really a huge fan of British humour that has been transferred to the big screen. I often feel let down by British comedies as I feel that they tend to hold back somewhat compared to the Americans. A couple of years ago however, my opinion was given a large kick in the pants by the wonderfully witty and excellently made ‘Shaun of the dead’. So upon hearing that the very same team were behind the hugely successful ‘Hot Fuzz’ I simply had to check it out and see if they could replicate the no holds barred insanity of their previous effort. Basic premise – ... more

Advantages Advantages Polished script to a granular level.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very gory in parts.

Never really been a fan of Simon Pegg at all, not watched Spaced, the first thing that I ever saw him in was Shaun of the Dead. I had bought the DVD in the HMV sale and was immediately hooked on what the actor could do. Hot Fuzz continues that approach as the film is made by the same writers as Shaun of the Dead. Although Pegg is the key focus in the film, it is the vast British acting talent that he has surrounded himself with that makes the film enjoyable and gives it an extra depth to watch. The plot starts out as a simple yet quite unfriendly situation. PC Nicholas Angel has been given a ... more

Advantages Advantages The attention to detail in parts

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as laugh a minute as some comedy films

The problem with putting out a decent debut; be it film, book or music; is that everyone expects your next effort to be better or at least equal in quality. Sometimes, in producing something wonderful first time out, it's like one-upmanship, except that the person you're effectively saying "Ha! Top THAT!" to is yourself. Such was the problem facing Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright after their debut feature film "Shaun of the Dead" was such a success. Into this situation steps their second film together, "Hot Fuzz". So, no pressure then. Nicholas Angel is the pride of London's Metropolitan Police ... more

Advantages Advantages It's action-packed, hilarious and immensely entertaining

Disadvantages Disadvantages Has too many endings!

If you haven't heard of Hot Fuzz, you must have been living under a rock for the last month. Or, at least, not watching TV at all. Simon Pegg, and to a lesser extent Nick Frost and Edgar Wright, have been mercilessly plugging this film on every single TV opportunity possible, as well as doing a series of signings up and down the country! Film 2007, the Culture Show, even Top Gear and the Baftas - none were safe from their promotional chit chat. Being a massive Spaced and Shaun of the Dead fan, I was eagerly awaiting their next project, although I was slightly put off by all this promotion ... more
