that. It's fair to say that Hot Fuzz proves that Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's brilliant Shaun Of The Dead was no one-off, serving up a superbly crafted British homage to the Hollywood action movie. Deliberately set in the midst of a sleepy, quaint English village of Sandford, Pegg's Nicholas Angel is sent there because, bluntly, he's too good at his job, and he's making his city colleagues look bad. The proverbial fish out of water, Angel soon discovers that not everything in Sandford is quite as it seems, and joins forces with Nick Frost's lumbering Danny Butterman to find out what's what. Hot Fuzz then proceeds to have a rollicking good time in both tipping its hat to the genre films that are clearly its loving inspiration, and coming up with a few tricks of its own. It does comedy better than action, with plenty of genuine laugh-out-loud moments, but it's no slouch either when the tempo needs raising. One of the many strong cards it plays is its terrific cast, which includes former 007 Timothy Dalton, Bill Nighy, Bill Bailey, Paddy Considine, Edward Woodward and Jim Broadbent. Hot Fuzz, ultimately, just falls short of Shaun Of The Dead, but more than does enough to warrant many, many repeat viewings. It's terrific fun, and in the true hit action movie style, all-but-demands some form of sequel. That said, with Pegg and Wright now with two excellent, and suitably different, genres ticked off, it'll be interesting to see what they do next. A period drama, perhapsÂ?? --Simon Brew

Advantages: Hilarious film, very well made and a huge array of extras Disadvantages: Maybe not to everyone's taste in humour
...I didn’t expect was this. Hot fuzz started off fairly slow and after the first twenty minutes or so I have to admit, I was a little disappointed, the humour was there but the story and events so far were a long way short of Shaun of the dead. After this though, my opinion was changed in a heartbeat as the story took a sinister turn and the humour and slapstick were quite literally shelled out by the bucket load. I suddenly found myself having to ... ...I have to say that Hot fuzz was one of the most uplifting and humorous two hours I’ve spent in some time.
DVD – The DVD is very well presented and jam packed with extras. The sound and picture quality are absolutely brilliant, a sharp and clear picture without so much as a blemish in sight and crisp, clear sound that is in my opinion at least, even better than you’d get in the cinema, a very professional package. This two disk set contains the film ...

Advantages: Witty and entertaining Disadvantages: Slightly too long
As a rule, I am often disappointed by British comedies. So frequently they rely on the lead character being a bumbling idiot (see most Hugh Grant roles), but that format was tired and boring a long time ago. "Shaun Of The Dead" was the opposite of that, and it was hugely successful and well received by the critics. A lot of this is down to the fact that it was more americanised than the standard Brit comedy. "Hot Fuzz" sees the return of the team ... ...comedy can combine action with a touch of core and still be really funny. Simon Pegg teams up with Nick Frost, and his co-writer Edgar Wright takes the directorial reins of this parody of American buddy cop films. Pegg stars as Nicholas Angel, a highly motivated and focused London policeman whose girlfriend has left him for another man. He makes so many arrests he makes the rest of The Met look bad. In order to save face, his superiors relocate him ...

Advantages: Brilliantly funny, great stunts Disadvantages: Bloody killings, lots of swearing
...Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) A Hot Shot London police officer who knows the letter of the law inside out. Top of every class has an arrest rate 4 times that of his colleagues. Danny Butterman (Nick Frost): A simple local village policeman, who lives for cornettos and the pub. Is happy wih his life until he meets Angel and feels he is missing out.
Frank Butterman (Jim Broadbent): The boss of the police force, and Danny's father who has a way of dealing ... ...an interesting progression of how Hot Fuzz was born of Edgar Wrights childhood dream and the success of Shaun of the Dead. It is interesting to see how the cast of young police officers and older villagers interact with each other and how the in-jokes made it onto the big screen.
* 22 deleted scenes - some of these are very funny and I'm guessing were cut out because of the already long final edit. Some were cut out for a reason though.
Others ...

Film Review Only
I am writing this review to refute some of the dreadful reviews it recieved. I must admit that when I first watched the film I disliked it for several reasons. However, after watching it for several more times, I started to find things really funny, like the piece of script above. ... ...from it, I am just appealing to its laughter factor, which it does have from beginning to end, from calling the woman at the motel a hag to chasing a swan. If you truly think about it, there are a good amount of jokes in the film.
"Brief Plot"
The storyline is simple. Officer Angle (Simon Pegg) is removed from his police duties in London because he makes everybody else look bad with his fantastic arrest record. After being let go by the police ...

Advantages: a great film, brilliant comedy, fantastic cast Disadvantages: some people fail to see the action as a parody
Hot Fuzz is an action/comedy and is the second film written and directed by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright. It follows the highly successful ‘Shaun Of The Dead’ that also featured the two leading actors, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Their partnership and relationship with the usual cast used in the films was started by the Channel 4 show Spaced that was to some extent a success. This DVD was released on the 11th Of June 2007 after a highly successful ... ...**Characters**

DVD Description
Pop culture sponges Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost team up again for HOT FUZZ, their follow-up to the hit movie SHAUN OF THE DEAD. HOT FUZZ follows a near-identical formula to its predecessor, simply replacing the various homages to horror movies by heaping on the adulation for action flicks such as POINT BREAK and BAD BOYS II--both of which are referenced throughout. The plot finds outstanding London-based police officer Nicholas Angel (Pegg) transferred to a rural village. On arrival, Angel teams up with the oaf-like PC Danny Butterman (Frost) and together they investigate a series of mysterious murders, all of which are classed as ‘accidents’ by the increasingly strange townsfolk. Director Wright combines gory set-pieces with traditional action-movie staples: moustachioed detectives in sunglasses, corny one-liners, rapid machine-gun fire, and blood-spattered fight scenes all feature heavily. References to other movies come thick and fast throughout, and HOT FUZZ will have film fans' memories working overtime as they try to catch all the allusions to Pegg, Wright, and Frost's favourite films. A veritable Who's Who of British comedy provides support, with Martin Freeman (THE OFFICE), Bill Bailey (BLACK BOOKS), Steve Coogan (I'M ALAN PARTRIDGE), and Olivia Colman (PEEP SHOW) in small roles. In addition, Timothy Dalton plays the movie’s bad guy with aplomb. HOT FUZZ eases up on the humour of SHAUN OF THE DEAD and often threatens to topple over into Chuck Norris territory, but Wright manages to insert enough gags to keep the balance just about perfect, providing a fitting, amusing, and occasionally touching homage to cinema’s action heroes.
