Horton Hears A Who features Jim Carrey and Steve Carrel in this timeless classic tale! One day Horton the elephant hears a cry from help coming from a speck of dust. Even though he can't see anyone on the speck he decides to help it. As it turns out the speck of dust is home to the Whos who live in their city of Whoville. Horton agrees to help protect the Whos and their home but this gives him nothing but torment from his neighbors who refuse to believe that anything could survive on the speck. Still Horton stands by the motto that "After all a person is a person no matter how small." Alvin And The Chipmunks: Based on the classic cartoon series Alvin Simon and Theodore come to the big screen with their mischievous musical mayhem. When struggling songwriter Dave Seville (Jason Lee) opens his home to a talented trio of chipmunks named Alvin Simon and Theodore they become overnight music sensations. Now Dave must use a little human ingenuity-and a lot of munk mischief-to get his family back before it's too late! Garfield 2: A Tail Of Two Kitties: Garfield America's favourite cat is going continental. He's travelling across the pond (with canine sidekick Odie) to surprise his master Jon Arbuckle (Meyer) who is in London to propose to his girlfriend veterinarian Liz Wilson (Hewitt). In the land of Big Ben Buckingham Palace Scotland Yard and fish and chips Garfield's British invasion takes on a Prince and the Paw-per dimension. He inadvertently switches places with the Prince a royal cat (and by luck his exact look-a-like) who has just inherited Castle Carlyle from his deceased owner Lady Eleanor this is a huge disappointment to her dastardly nephew Lord Dargis (Billy Connelly). Now living it up as the Cat of Carlyle Garfield has a butler and an international array of servants and subjects including Winston a very English bulldog; McBunny a Scottish hare; Nigel a Punjab ferret; Bolere a Spanish bull; I Claudius a Shakepeare-quoting mouse and Christophe a French goose. Meanwhile Prince is living the simple life of a commoner hitting the pubs with Jon and Oldie getting his first taste of lasagne...and loving all of it! Uneasy is the head however that wears the crown. Lord Bargis who is next in line to the estate wants Prince/Garfield out of the picture. Garfield's bigger better more pur-fect world is soon turned upside down in the tale of two kitties!

Advantages: Great fun family film, excellent animation, good story Disadvantages: None
HortonHears a Who is a film which has been based on very popular book by Dr Seuss. As my 6 year old is a fan of the books I decided to treat him to the film. I will admit I have now watched it twice as I wanted to watch it on my own with no interruptions first!
The film stars an elephant named Horton, voiced by Jim Carrey, who lives in the jungle of Nool. He has many friends and spends his day teaching the children. One day when he is having a bath in the river he hears a noise which seems to be coming from a tiny speck. Horton follows the noise and manages to catch the speck on a flower. No one believes him when he tells them and tells him to stop being so silly and to stop making the children believe daft things.
Horton knows he is right and soon he managed to talk to one of the people on the speck. The speck is home to Who ...
Advantages: Great family movie with a great message Disadvantages: None
HortonHears a Who?
HortonHears a Who is the new animated film adaption of the Dr. Seuss book of the same name. Jim Carrey stars as Horton, an elephant who leads a pretty nice life in the jungle. One day he happens upon a dust speck that lands on a clover. In credibly he thinks he hears a voice coming form the speck, and lo and behold, he is right. It is the voice of Ned McDodd the Mayor of Whoville. Whoville is a small, microscopic I guess you could call it, town with lots of inhabitants. The mayor alone has 96 daughters and one son. The mayor is played by Steve Carell (he played the part of David Brent in the US version of the Office and was also in the movie 40 year old Virgin) In my opinion he is really good in this role and makes the character believable. I think Jim Carrey is great though as he always plays an outlandish part ...
Advantages: Lots of gags, great animation, strong voice cast, lots of adventures. Disadvantages: Odd cast end credits singalong.
Horton is a kindly elephant who thinks he hears a voice coming from a tiny speck. The voice belongs to the Whos, a minuscule race of people led by the Mayor of Whoville. Horton decides to protect the Whos and their home, but this leads to no end of problems. No-one else believes there really are people on the speck because they can't see them and the Mayor of Whoville has a similar problem convincing his townsfolk of the existence of a giant altruistic elephant. Soon Horton is being ridiculed by the other inhabitants of the jungle, especially the snooty kangaroo who wants to stifle everyone's imagination. So will Horton stick to his belief that "a person is a person, no matter how small"?

Features the family comedies: HORTON HEARS A WHO!, ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS and GARFIELD 2 – A TALE OF TWO KITTIES
HORTON HEARS A WHO – Based on the 1954 children's book by Dr. Seuss, HORTON HEARS A WHO! is a 2008 computer-animated Hollywood update of the beloved illustrated tale. Horton (voiced by Jim Carrey), a thoughtful elephant living in the jungle of Nool, discovers that an entire society, Whoville, rests inside a speck. He gently rests it on a clover flower, and searches for a place where it will be safe from the perils of the larger world. Establishing contact with Whoville's befuddled mayor (Steve Carell), Horton faces disbelief from his animal friends, including his blue mouse pal, Morton (Seth Rogen), and unwittingly incurs the wrath of an uptight kangaroo (Carol Burnett), setting the playful pachyderm on a journey to the most remote parts of Nool, with malicious vultures and monkeys not far behind.
ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS – This live-action/computer-animated update of Ross Bagdasarian's squeaky-voiced cartoon characters finds the chipmunks (in CGI form) transported from their woodland habitat to the city, where they wind up in the home of Dave Seville (Jason Lee). Dave, a down-on-his-luck songwriter, realises the potential of a singing chipmunk pop act, and becomes an unlikely mentor/father figure to feisty Alvin, brainy Simon, and dopey Theodore. Meanwhile, the threesome causes chaos in his life, leading to plenty of fun, frenetic scenarios. When a devious record executive (David Cross) enters the picture, however, Alvin and the Chipmunks must deal with both the trappings of fame and their loyalty to the amiable, hapless Dave.
GARFIELD 2 – A TALE OF TWO KITTIES – While tagging along to England with his lovely vet girlfriend (Jennifer Love Hewitt), Garfield's owner John Arbuckle (Breckin Meyer) inadvertently brings Garfield (voiced by Bill Murray) along, where he winds up being mistaken for Prince (voiced by Tim Curry), the royal cat of a lordly estate. There's a plot afoot to steal Prince's lands and title, orchestrated by the nefarious Dargis (Billy Connolly) and it's up to Garfield to save the day, that is if he can get his face out of the lasagne long enough. This sequel to the 2004 hit GARFIELD - THE MOVIE maintains that film's clever intermingling of live action supporting cast with a CGI-animated Garfield, that self-centred, lasagne-quaffing feline, famed of newspaper comic strips by Jim Davis.
