Scares in the woods

Advantages: Great suspense
Disadvantages: none

...very little real story. However, The Blair Witch Project is one film that has an interesting story to match the scares. This film is written and directed by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez. The Blair Witch Project is about three film students, Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, and Michael Williams who travel to Burkittsville, Maryland, to research the local legend of the Blair Witch, for a documentary. After interviewing a few locals, they journey ...
...it is not long before the three students get lost and disorientated in the woods. They soon realise they are going around in circles. They discover evidence of wooden figures and hear eerie noises, which leads them to believe they have found what they are looking for. The students are lost in the woods and never make it out. Their cameras and footage is found and used to make this film that reveals more about their disappearance. I found this film ...

A Design For Death [Film Only]

Advantages: Memorable deaths, good performances and special effects
Disadvantages: Some dodgy dialogue, a few inconsistencies

...explodes. Their trip to the final destination delayed but not terminated - as the teenagers find out, there is no cheating death. The opening scene at the airport is effective, and ensures Final Destination won't be shown as flight entertainment. The deaths are well executed (if you'll excuse the pun). If it's not the thought behind them - which will get the guessing games going - then it's the timing that can catch you out. However, there is inconsistency ...
...stuff thrown around already. Final Destination is strong in the special effects department. Computer trickery can be evident, but it's not as if these effects stand out like a sore thumb. It's not entirely the works of computers however, and when something is evidently fake, there is humour with horror - something which the film manages to mix successfully on more than this one occasion. Despite being set in New York, there are a couple of clues, ...

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 - for viewers included

Advantages: A few good scenes
Disadvantages: Lost the plot - skip this sequel

***Why watched A Nightmare on Elm Street 2*** I originally first watched this A Nightmare in Elm Street 1, and like many other people out there I thoroughly enjoyed the film. After the ambiguous ending in the first film I was unsure where the story would continue in the second film. Luckily for me I watched I pretty much was able to watch the films consecutively. This film was introduced in 1985 (1 year after the first), but I probably watched both ...

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Freddys home!

Advantages: Wes Craven returned to save the day
Disadvantages: Freddy started to get cheesier

***Why watched A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors*** I originally first watched this A Nightmare in Elm Street 1, and like many other people out there I thoroughly enjoyed the film. The second film was released the following year, but unfortunately the film sucked and put me off watching any more sequels. This film was introduced in 1987 (3 years after the first), but still not long enough for me to forget awful the last one was. For once ...

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 - Freddy's got an opponent

Advantages: Storyline evolved
Disadvantages: Fredd remained cringeworthy

***Why did I watch A Nightmare on Elm Street Number 4: The Dream Master*** I watched this film for pretty much the same reasons I normally do. I love horror films and try to watch them as soon as they come out. With the Nightmare on Elm Street films I especially loved part 1, part 2 I would rather have forget about and part 3 did an a excellent job of providing a film as good as part 1. ***The cast*** Tuesday Knight as Kristen Ken Sagoes as Kincaid ...
...have settled into to living a normal life. Kristin remains the focus at the start of the film, along with her new boyfriend Rick and best friends Alice (Ricks sister), Sheila & Debbie. The films kicks off with Kristin’s nightmares returning as she is convinced Freddy is still alive, using the power to drag people into her dreams she upsets Kincaid and Joey when she abruptly calls for their help. The next day the trio are confused why Kristin’s dreams ...
