Gothic Meets Pepsi max
Advantages: Imaginative, Gothic, Enjoyable Disadvantages: Stupid, Badly Constructed with CGI Overload
...to kill…. Van Helsing is part of a secret underground operation headed by the Catholic Church; he is sworn to hunt and kill the forces of evil throughout the world and hide their existence. His latest mission sends him into Transylvania in search of a young vampire slayer, Anna. Many generations of her family have been killed by the infamous Count Dracula and now that her brother has been slowly turning into a were-wolf, she has to kill the dark ... ...I had convinced myself that Van Helsing would be the best action movie of all time. So, I was there on opening night; drenched with rain and stuck in the throng of eager movies goers, was it worth it? Not particularly. To be fair Van Helsing isn't essentially a bad film, it's swift and efficient with enough of a wow factor to keep most film goers more than happy. I just didn't feel it had any conviction; it doesn't have the courage to stand up and ...

A Waste of 2 Hours 6 Minutes
Advantages: Hugh Jackman is convincing as Van Helsing Disadvantages: Kate Beckinsale is useless, weak plot
...or 'it was fantastic', but Van Helsing actually prompted unusually strong negative feelings from me. Legendary monster hunter Van Helsing, is sent to Transylvania, along with the obligatory bumbling sidekick, to defeat the infamous and powerful vampire, Count Dracula. Once there he is joined by a Gypsy princess who is the last living member of her family, and wants to defeat Dracula in order to lift her family's ancient curse. Van Helsing is played ... ...made and the legend of Van Helsing, and a blooper reel. There's also a feature that allows you to explore Dracula's castle, which basically means you click on bits of the scenery and it tells you about it, and a feature called 'You are in the movie', which sounds like it could be interesting, but it's just where they've stuck mini hidden cameras around the set and on the main cameras to give you a different vantage point on the filming, which is ...

Fun in Transylvania
Advantages: Wonderful fairytale "Transylvania", great monsters, especially the vampire ladies Disadvantages: Weak plot, awful one-liners and James Bond references
...of Gothic grandeur (the vampire ball) and lot of awful on-liners and James Bond references (I hate Bond!). Human characters are not much - Van Helsing is somewhere between sympathetic nerdy sidekick Carl and unsympathetic strrrong woman Anna (who has awful James Bond villain accent). Great outweighs awful.. ...

Van Helsing - Brought to life HD style
Advantages: Amazing HD quality and great movie Disadvantages: Needs a HD dvd player and HD TV to play this item best.
HD makes this movie come to life. Quite scarily too. Hugh jackman plays the hunted murderer 'Van Helsing' in his search to find his calling. Helsing tavels the world hunting and capturing if posible dangerous beasts for preists of rome. This time he has to travel to transalvania and hunt count dracula (Richard Roxburgh). It seems he has a strange link to count dracula, and he searchs for the meaning of his life. Also accomanied by Anna Valerious ... ...never been allowed into the kingdom of heaven she has to kill Dracula. So Helsing and Anna team up along with the key to life Frankastien to exterminate Dracula and his young.
The DVD of this film is great, but nothing compares to seeing it in HD. The picture is breathtaking and the sound is crisp. Like all HD DVDs this requires a HD DVD player to be played. This is a Widescreen DVD and it makes watching alot more cinema like than a plain old DVD. ...

Roll up, roll up. Plenty of monsters for everyone!
Advantages: Good plot and mood setting, good direction Disadvantages: Poor acting, too long
This 2004 film, Van Helsing, is a fantasy film based on the character of legend Van Helsing, the monster hunter. It combines some big names in acting and directing.
The Plot
Legendary monster hunter Van Helsing is dispatched by the Vatican to deep Transylvania, where it is rumoured that Count Dracula is hatching a dangerous plot involving some monsters. The hunter travels to the distant land and encounters Count Dracula, who has control over Frankenstein's ... ...a thirst for flesh.
Van Helsing teams up with a gypsy Princess, Anna Valerious, to combat the Count, his two monsters, and his horde of vampires which are terrorising the land.
The Cast and Performances
Hugh Jackman stars here as Van Helsing, and provides a lot of charisma and moodiness to the role. Kate Beckinsale is Valerious, but not seem quite right with a European accent of sorts (not easy to place the accent!). Talented Richard Roxborough ...
