Devilish film

Advantages: Scary and jumpy, with a great story
Disadvantages: It may be too scary for some people

The Exorcist is a horror film that is a favourite for many people. It was directed by William Friedkin and released in 1973. The film follows the possession and the attempted exorcism of a young girl, Regan MacNeil (Linda Blair). Regan’s poor health is originally blamed on her mother’s, Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn), recent divorce, but it soon becomes clear that demonic forces are at work. Her mother ends up seeking the assistance of two priests, ...
...in her bid to rid the demon from her daughter. The priests realise that they will have to use all their strength and convictions to defeat the demon and save Regan. This film is loosely based on an actual exorcism of a young boy in the early twentieth century. I thought that this was a really creepy and scary film, with some excellent make-up and special effects. It is worth noting that some scenes are very horrific and may upset some people of ...

There's a sting in this tale!

Advantages: Exciting, action-packed
Disadvantages: Bit too much for one film, flaws/holes in the plot

...as I had recently seen the third and first of the films, decided it was best to review them in order! Firstly a piece of advice, although I will try my absolute best not to plonk in any big spoilers here (with regard to the first film - this will be hard) I think it is best not to see this review until you've watched the first film. It should make sense, but it's always better to do things in sequence! I really enjoyed the first film, and so when ...
...- if you've not seen the first film, read this bit** Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz), the clumsy librarian and her brother, Jonathan found an unusual, star shaped item inside a tomb, decided to investigate and went on an exploring journey. On their way, they met Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser), a prisoner, who agreed to help in return for his freedom. But there were other Americans on a treasure hunt and between the two gangs they managed to awaken ...

Anyone want a mug of Kokumo?

Advantages: Possesion is 9 tenths of the law
Disadvantages: That's not really true :-(

...the best thing in an Exorcist film. This film basically has her in a rehab unit, recovering from the traumas of being possessed in the first film. A priest called Father Lamont (played brilliantly by Richard Burton) comes to interview her and try and find out what really happened to Father Merrin all those years ago. They use a contraption (a synchronizer??) to bring their minds together and travel through the mental cosmos to find out what really ...
...ex-wife Belinda was also in Exorcist II and Deliverance. Rating: 18 in the UK; R in the US Running Time: 118 minutes, although it does seem a good bit longer than that. Things I've learned from this film: 1. Peanuts can be used to imitate locusts if you're short of budget. 2. If you can't remember something, synchronize your brain with an alcoholic playing a priest, that'll remind you of things. 3. "If Pazuzu comes for you I will spit a leopard!" ...

Adventure is reborn!!

Advantages: You don't need to have seen the first one to watch this.
Disadvantages: Is there any???

...Many compare this sequel to the first movie The Mummy, however, you do not need to do this, the film can definately be watched without having seeing the first one, but I reccommend watching it so you might aswell see it first. If you have not seen the first one, basically a librarian named Evie is particularly interested in the Egyptian history and when her brother Johnathon finds an interesting key she can not help but work out what it is used for. ...
...a humerous adventure to unleash the evil Imhotep who was mummified alive for murdering the Pharoah. Evie her brother and Rick unleash a deadly curse that many have feared for years. In the second one the corpse of Imhotep is resurrected in a British museum as it is the year of the Scorpion and the Scorpion Kings bracelet has been found by Rick and Evie (who are now married). Unfortunately their son puts on the bracelet which leads them to the Scorpion ...

How And Why Sleepless Was Made -------------------------------------------- Dario Argento started his working life on spaghetti westerns; his collaboration with Sergio Leone on Once Upon A Time In The West is possibly his best known monie of that genre. Argento diversified his work by focusing on things that interested him, namely horror. Argento enjoyed the fact that he could take audiences a step further than they wanted to go. His horror work ...
...There is no doubt that Sleepless is not Argento's best work, but it's a really good contender for a top five of his best. From the moment the movie starts, you feel the tension. The feelings that you have about the plot from the start are usually a good indicator of how a Giallo film will end; not predictable, as the story unfolds the things that initially you thought are dismissed only to return later. All this aside you don't have a clue to the ...
